Cross compatability across all systems, except for P.C.
This is due to the fact that on p.c Skins and texture packs are free, so are mods,
But on x-Box and others, skins and texture packs cost cash.

Microsoft is also limiting p.c., to maximize the cash flow they can get.

I agree with everything except the 1.9 combat system stuff. That is a rare example of Mojang actually taking initiative. 1.8 combat is only considered better by most people because it's what they got used to, but really, it was lacking in skill and unbalanced. Really, all fights came down to clicking quickly, and though the bow was better, they didn't change it. Furthermore, 1.9 added a lot more nuance to the system, actually making it more mature. Shields are a pretty tactical thing, and axes became more unique, rather than being second-class swords in combat. There's a big element of timing - it's not about charging madly at your enemies while spamming left-click - in fact, 1.9 is sort of the opposite of the 'wow colourful' stuff in 1.12 - it's a solid update that actually fixed some issues, added interesting content and some new mechanics. Can you really fault elytras? And you try making a shulker plushie. I'm sure those didn't work, if they were made at all.

Wait so does this mean I might not be able to play on Wynn or hypixel without other platforms?

 

They know they can't outright stop us, that would cause outrage. They're just systematically making things harder for servers in order to steal players from them. Wynn and Hypixel aren't going to die anytime soon. Java edition servers will remain as they are, for the most part, but be prepared for a steady decline in players.

There may have been a tiny amount of hyperbole involved. Potions and golden apples don't add much more, they're really just ways you can buff yourself, and strafing was about the only strategy involved in melee combat. I mentioned bows - they have not changed, but 1.9's tipped arrows do add more nuance to ranged combat. The point I was trying to get across was that Mojang made a bold and well justified move to improve the game with 1.9's combat system.

People complain about having to get used to something new. It doesn't mean it's worse. I'm not saying the new system is objectively better, I'm just saying 1.9 combat is a lot more viable than people give it credit for, given their frustration that it changed changed and they're they're no longer good at it. You can never please everyone - I don't think there's ever been a major change or addition to Minecraft that some haven't complained about.

well the pvp community is easily more than 50% of the whole minecraft community
thats just TERRIBLE game management or just not caring about the game and its community anymore

 

Only because so many people reverted to 1.8 combat immediately. It's just that such a large community grew around PVP when the combat system wasn't as complete as Mojang wanted it to be. Those communities didn't react well, and have been very vocal about it. I'm not saying they don't have a point. It's just that looking at how the most vocal people react isn't a great way to judge the actual quality. 1.9 combat introduced a lot of more interesting features.

People had been complaining about the combat system for ages before 1.9. And the PVP community only make up that much when you look at what's happening on big servers - a lot of the rest of the community play in singleplayer or smaller servers, on survival and whatnot. They may not be filling up forums, but they are a big part of the community. And Minecraft, at its core has never been a combat-based game. 1.9 was a compromise - it was a lose-lose situation with combat anyway.

Please remember that Minecraft has aged extraordinarily well - there are few games that have sustained such a large community for so long. Mojang know what they're doing. I just think that it's a tiny bit hypocritical of the video to simultaneously criticise Mojang for pandering to the players in 1.12 and taking risks in an attempt to improve the game in 1.9. It seems you can't get over the idea that something you personally don't approve of might have been a reasonable idea.

I would argue that most people are like you in that they quietly like 1.9 combat. It's just that a lot the players that don't like it are very vocal about it, largely because they got good at 1.8 and it's no longer relevant. It's a common illusion that if the people who hold one opinion shout about it enough, it makes it seem like there are more of them.

And of course Mojang know what they're doing. It's this that's sustained Minecraft for so long. I think everyone here can acknowledge that Minecraft is a good game, and Mojang are to thank. Just be a little bit grateful for the game, alright?

Its better than the spam click pvp,
but it makes pvp SO SLOW
if they can buff attack speed or something a bit...

yeah let's just entirely remove combos from pvp they're not the thing that makes it require still right?
