Sivius seems to, as coordinated as a dance, appear where you once were standing.
"Time is not on your side around me."

 

"They'd be a challenge that would push you to your limits." I say.

 

"I doubt it, but you're welcome to test me as you see fit. That does sound like it roughly follows my prime directive."

"No way you're actually saying this..." Alice thinks.

 

"Well, I won't be able to test you immediately, but give me some time once we're out of here and I can have you fighting an army of robots one by one." I say.

"Don't worry, I have a plan with an old arena in my realm." I respond.

 

"Of course." It nods.

"You can't, like, realm lock or paradox trap that... thing. When he says ancient technology, he means stuff that'd get you banned in a video game."

 

"I wasn't planning on locking him in the realm? I was going to create an event for people to create robots to challenge him and have him fight them," I say, "Besides, it's still possible to beat a hacker, even if you need to use hacks yourself."

 

"...That's what I hoped you'd say."

Peridot walks over to Angela.
"Do you mind responding to a query?"

 

"Why?" I ask, suspicious.


"O-Oh, uhm, I-I guess so." Angela says nervously.

 

"He doesn't respond well to traps or betrayal well... actually, if you're into puns, he does respond to them with a well... a gravity well."


"Why are you so afraid? Your friends are stronger than most armies, there should be no reason to worry."

 

"It's not a trap. The terms are people can make or submit whatever robots they see fit for fighting him, and if they lose, they're out of the competition." I respond.


"W-Well, e-even though they're s-so s-strong, there's s-still the chance something c-could quickly kill me." Angela says, though she sounds like she's not telling the whole story.

 

"Will you be watching?"


"Pardon me, let me rephrase... do you mind giving a truthful response to the previous query?"

 

"There will be crowds watching," I respond, "The only reason the arena got shut down was the old royalty deemed it too violent and dangerous."


"W-Well, p-people have been calling m-me a murderer, a-and I d-don't know i-if I am, o-or really who I-I am. If they're c-calling me a m-murderer, I-I'm scared they'll h-have me executed or s-something." Angela says, scared.

 

"You realize that didn't stop people from still using it?"


"By Archjustice Virei'tus' decree, you cannot be killed for murder during times of war without a trial. That leaves the only reason for you to be nervous, is that you're lying to not only others, but yourself. If you wish, I could scan you to confirm your identity. Your friends have found that I am accurate."

 

"Yeah, but I've had people regulate what goes on in there." I say.


"I-I'm not lying! I'm n-not a murderer!" Angela says, glancing at Stephanie and her Shadow.

 

"Linoa said otherwise, but she might just be straight up drunk."


"If you aren't a murderer, then why are you nervous?"

 

"She is." I say.


"B-Because people think I-I am! I-I'm not the b-bravest person, e-either. E-Even in the Realm of Shadows, I still get scared, even though I'm s-supposed to be safe." Angela confesses.

 

"I mean, more than usual. Her blood's practically antifreeze as it is."


"Why do people think you are? You're unarmed."

 

"Eh, she can power through it." I say.


"I-I don't know!" Angela says, starting to tear up.

 

"I mean, yeah, but I'm still worried about her. She makes a drunk look sober once you look at her blood alcohol concentration."

Peridot closely observes her tears.

 

"What is it? two hundred and sixty percent?" I ask.


They're just normal tears, as you'd expect to see from, well, anyone crying.
