Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, I'm not really sure. She has nanobots that repair her whenever she gets damaged, and none of her seems to be anything but a robot. Ugh, I'm confused." Stephanie says.

 

"What you describe sounds like a cyborg." The construct repeats.

 

"But...she's not...argh." Stephanie says, clutching her head, stressed.

 

The construct gives her an odd look.
"Why are you panicking? There's no active threats around."

 

"I just...I don't understand." Stephanie says, stressed.

Shadow Stephanie teleports over.

"Hey, Stephanie, come chill with me for a bit." Shadow Stephanie says, leading Stephanie away and sitting down with her, summoning a few crystals and a couple of glasses

 

"Why is not understanding so stressful? Shouldn't that lead to an increase in curiosity?" The construct asks, following.

 

"Can we have some chill time together? I think Stephanie needs to not answer questions for a bit." Shadow Stephanie asks, pouring Stephanie a glass of orange juice.

 

"Ending queries directed at Stephanie." The construct says, walking over to you and Artemis.

 

Artemis hides behind me, scared.

"I-It's not going to kill us, is it?" Artemis can be heard asking.

"Alright?" I greet.

 

"Stephanie's shadow requested I end queries directed at her for the time being. I decided introductions elsewhere may be a wise course of action. Thus, I approached you and Artemis."
Pause.
"Though, I do not understand her fear. If she fears robots, she has no reason to fear me."

 

"Are you not a robot, then? Nor a construct ran by AI?" I ask.

 

"Artificial Intelligence was developed long after my construction. No, I am not a robot: I lack circuitry."

 

"Then are you alive? Bound by nature's laws?" I ask.

 

"No. I am little more than a soul in an ancient construct. My prime directive is to find a modern construct or robot worthy of ancient power."

 

"What kind of ancient power?" I ask.

 

"As a biological-magical being, you are disqualified from receiving that information unless you are the creator of a construct who can defeat me. So far, I have only seen backwards progress."

 

"And why exactly do you want to give away this ancient power?" I ask, suspicious.

 

"Because I was created to preserve it until I encountered a future people worthy of knowing it."

 

"And if you never find the worthy opponent?" I ask.

 

"Then I will simply wander for eternity."
