Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I decide to not interrupt them, heading out of the palace and towards Akli'il territory.

 

Akli'il's busy cleaning up a path to the farm, it seems.

 

I approach him, taking a better look at what he's doing.

 

He's moving rubble with a few other raptors and the queen.

 

I approach him.
"Hey there."

 

They seem startled, but Akli'il isn't.
"Hey. These humans are really good at bargaining. Lady calling herself the queen told me she was forced to do stuff she didn't like, apologized and admitted it wouldn't help the damage done. I decided that I can work with anyone with that much sense in them, regardless of what they are." He comments, Eklir and Gau glancing over.
Eklir seems to be keeping Gau from shirking and talking to you, the pair about to wrestle.

 

I don't seem to care enough to stop them, but Crystal seems interested in the fight.
"Well, it's good to see progression, here. Anything I can do to help?"

 

"We're trying to clear a path to the farm so we can get to it, then she was gonna show us how we can help the farmers. Apparently digging up a little bit of dirt helps with replanting, and our talons work just as well as their stone tools. The whole reason I'm helping her is that she's willing to work and has a good point - if we're needed to keep the humans alive, then they won't turn on us. If we're getting out of line, then they can starve us out because we can't get to their stores. Either problem can just be fixed with a one-on-one with leaders and a bit of shouting."
Pause.
"Help her move the bigger pieces of wall, I guess?"

 

"I can do that."
I say, walking over to the queen, as Crystal departs from me to get a better look at Eklir and Gau.

 

They do indeed end up wrestling, Gau exploiting pressure points and Eklir seeming many times stronger as both let out little yelps as Gau tosses Eklir into the air and Eklir makes Gau-shaped indents in the dirt.


The queen glances at the two fighting before sighing and turning to you.
"There's hardly anyone left. I only saw 8..." She says woefully, turning back to continue moving rocks. "This is far from the life I imagined when I was growing up a princess."

 

"I saw a few more."
I say, taking some rocks as well.
"You shouldn't fret this much. It'll all be okay. It'll just take some time."

Crystal moves around the battle, watching it from different angles.

 

"It's hard not to fret. My husband's still in bad condition, giving himself heart attacks every time he gets conscious again. I asked for the shadows not to wipe his memories, but I don't know if that's an option. It's also hard not to see my daughter every day... I-I know he means well, but it's... all too much." She says, tearing up as she slings a sizeable piece of stone into the moat.

Eklir's definitely going to win, but Gau has him winded by poking at pressure points by the time Eklir manages to literally bury him.
"Get back... to work, damnit." He growls.

 

"Here, let me help you."
I say, flinging my own pieces into the moat before taking some of the bigger ones and doing just the same.

A bit intimidated, Crystal steps back a bit, but watches to see if Gau is okay.

 

"...Thanks. I just... want to get things right this time. I didn't know the thin curtain between me and reality was... this delicate."

Gau gets up, dirty and annoyed but okay.
"Come on, you work so hard you ought to have some time for friends."
"I'm chief's right hand for a reason. Now, shut up."

 

Stephanie remains quiet as she just reads her tome, sitting down on the ground.

 

Linoa glances around.
"Well... are we going to have a PDA or are we going to go get another relic?"

 

"We should go to the underworld. Get it out of the way." Stephanie says.

"I don't see why not." I say, shrugging and starting to head to the portal room.

 

Alice follows, as does Linoa. Rineth's been waiting outside the portal room, it seems.
"We all moving again?"

 

"Yes." I say, as the dirk floats off my hand.

 

"That's how veils work, I guess."
I say, grabbing another piece of stone.
"Why are you throwing this into the moat? It might be able to be used for tools if you have the right equipment to make some."
I point out.

Crystal keeps watching and listening in.
