Why do people care if you can't play wynncraft on 1.8 in a few months? It doesn't matter! Just move to a more recent version!

 

a lot of servers still support 1.8.9 with minimal bugs, generally its inconvenient for people that play on those servers. also pvp is different with 1.9+ so all the pvp nerds complain :D

 

well, this is certainly an interesting twist to come back to. lemme summarize what this means...

good news:
- 1.12 is supported
- 1.9+ means some new kick-ass command blocks and a wider range of possible blocks to use for textures (seriously there's a fuckton in 1.9+, especially in 1.12)
- maybe they can finally fix the fact that music in 1.9 feels incredibly offkey, last i checked (maybe it was fixed idk i haven't been here in a while)
- i guess my weapon skin will finally work so that's cool i guess
- does armor skins is return? (ok probably not but hey it's a possibly with 1.9+ i'm sure)

bad news:
- 1.8.9...y'know, won't be supported --- i personally don't very highly object to this (i find that 1.12 works surprisingly well), but some people...aren't as willing to make the switch (1.9 is where people split into two sections: those that prefer the old way or those that prefer the new way)
- a lot of people may potentially leave since 1.8.9 won't be...y'know what, to hell with it, all the problems stem from not supporting 1.8.9, there's no other downside

so uh...i guess i'm ok with this?

(although, something to note: the weapon skin system may need some work due to the weapon speed mechanic of 1.9+ potentially messing with attack speed)

If we could we would've updated to 1.11.2 by now.

There is no confirmation when Wynncraft will become 1.9+

 

There is one huge reason why 1.12 will be amazing for this server that no one has mentioned yet: functions. In case you aren't aware of what those are, basically functions allow you to store and run as many commands as you want in a world, within a text file, all without placing a single command block. This would be amazing if the team fully converts all of the code from the command blocks to functions, as we could remove pretty much all of the thousands of lag-inducing command blocks.

Besides functions, there's so much other amazing stuff from 1.9-1.12 we can use:

• Dual-wielding
• The fact that you can now retexture individual durability values, giving thousands of more texture reskin possibilities, and meaning we can finally get armor textures again.
• All of the new mobs: shulkers, llamas, vindicators, vexes, strays, husks, parrots, illusioners, evokers, and probably a few others I forgot about
• New command blocks (chain, repeating) & structure blocks
• New status effects, such as levitation, glowing, luck & bad luck, all of which can be utilized with commands for new possibilities.
• Advancements, which we can use to overhaul the quest book and give it a much cleaner and organized feel.
• More than 60 new blocks, such as all the purpur variants, magma, concrete, concrete powder, terracotta, shulker boxes, bone blocks, red nether brick, netherwart block, path blocks, end rods, endstone brick, and more, all of which can be retextured with the resource pack
• Elytra flying, which might be a little OP in the main world, but can be awesome for quests that teleport you to a separate area
• The frost walker enchantment, which could be extremely cool
• Shields
• Totems of undying
• 15 types of arrows
• Lingering potions, which could be awesome to use when playing with your friends or your guild
• Over 150 new sound effects
• Loot tables
• Twice as many noteblock sounds, meaning more awesome music
• And a lot behind the scene changes with commands, such as being able to increase the max command chain length, and many new options using nbt data.

So yeah, I really think that it's great that we're finally moving on from 1.8, and embracing all of the new features there are to have. If we stay at 1.8 forever, we'll never have any new features to work with!

Agree with this post mate

 

Literally the only reason for me to keep using 1.8.9 is the double-right click issue with versions 1.9 and above.
If this can somehow be fixed, hallelujah.
