Art Over The Shoreline

Hello and I'm here to show you my new artwork! This time, I was experimenting with backgrounds by using a new charcoal stick brush. Personally, I have a love/hate relationship on what I did to the background and I can't decide whether I like it or not.

This artwork was inspired by the north-eastern coastline of Western US, mainly Monterey.

I hope you enjoyed it. Feedback is greatly appreciated as always!

 

To improve your background, I think you need a bit more depth. Objects closer to the viewer (in this case trees and grass) should be more saturated, darker, and sharper in image clarity. Right now everything is the same tone.

Other than that, try putting a shadow on the character there, it'll help depth as well. It's adorable as always though :)

Smooth out the outline of your character, it'll look better xd

Sounds fitting as I was going to make it look like it was from northwestern US. Plus, it is probably near the Canadian border!

After all the lake is from NW U.S. (specificly somewhere in the middle of the puget sound) and a couple of hours away from canada
