One by one, everyone nods.
"If we put him through that shit, and we gotta work with him now..."
"Hell, the wall ain't stopping any of his friends."
"Not like there's enough of a guard to defend much more than a single house. If raptors don't want to be seen, they won't be."
"If they aren't knocking down the remains, then they can't be that stern."
"Hey... what about the mantis?"
"Oh, the matriarch is forgiving."
"We've tried to kill her multiple times, you think she's actually that forgiving?"
"Our lives are essentially out of our hands and in those of bugs and birds. Better get used to it."
"Manners wouldn't kill us, but I'm not too fond of forfeiting ourselves to their commands."

 

"Frankly, I'd wait for Ytir to at least give a report. They don't know how you are, right now, other than probably starving."

 

"If we go back with him, they'll talk before they strike."

 

"If you're willing to take the risk, I can support it."

 

"We could go out there and try and get a question answered or we could sit here trapped between a cliff and a broken wall that can't hold back any hard feelings any more."

 

"It's your choice. I'm just making sure you understand the risks."

 

"We do."
"Yep."
"Doesn't being alive carry the inherent risk of dying, anyways?"
"Oh, shut up you party pooper."

 

"I'll be willing to escort you whenever you're ready to go, then."

 

Ytir seems to be stirring.
"I think we were too loud."
"Can you not wake the damn bird?"
"Oh, come on! He has a name!"

Ytir just yawns, glancing confusedly at you.

 

I pet Ytir on the head.
"We were just talking about going to the palace that I showed you."
I say a bit softer.

 

"Oh, sure! Why's there such a big fuss over that?"

The group just looks at you two, confused.

 

"It involves going through Aral'hrah territory."
I don't mind the looks.

 

I nod, summoning a dirk.

"I am willing to spar with any and all." I say, brandishing my dirk.

 

Four draconians form a line.
"You may choose which one of us you wish to duel first." They offer.

"And the Mantis forest. We know."

 

Stephanie nods.

"Their effects are based on alternate dimensions." Stephanie says happily.

 

"They're willing to take the risk, and I'm willing to escort them, it's just that I'm worried about how many raptors aren't okay with humans just strolling in."

 

"How about, you, the one in front."

 

"Thanks, but no thanks. I'm willing to make a deal if you give me a dozen bottles of the yellow potion and a good supply of hemocatalysts or three dragon hearts."

They grab their crossbow and unsheathe their dagger.
"I'd be honored to start off."

"With you around, they'll listen. Especially Aral'hrah, he's super tolerant."

 

"Hemocatalysts?" I ask.

 

"Type O blood arcanoengineered to act as a catalyst for hemomagic. It's stupid rare around here."
