Media What Does 1.12 Mean For Wynncraft?

1.12 just came out, I don't remember what time because I had to take my permit test after school (18/20 :D) and I basically slipped into a food coma after that. Woke up at around 5:30, and then logged onto Minecraft at around 6 to see the update available

But that's beside the point. What does 1.12 mean for wynncraft?

I wont bother going into the itty bitty details, Here's the chagelog if you want to see it

Tl;dr New blocks, mobs, and functions

New blocks: If the concrete/terracotta blocks are ever put into an updated Wynncraft resource pack, this could be great news for builders. The builders now have (16 Minecraft colors x 3 new block types) 48 more blocks in their arsenal! They can of course tweak the blocks existing textures to be a whole variety of new things. This can mean anything from new builds to new weapon skins, to new ways the builders can vibrantly express the world of wynn!

New mobs: Parrots and the illusionist were added. If a coder or game master gets around their coding, we could possibly have two new models to base mobs around! For example..... the illusionist could be called something completely different and put in say.. The Dark/Kandor Forest.

Functions: The possibilities here are quite literally endless, being able to run a string of commands all at once! Things that may have taken a while to code like discoveries or soul points can be fixed in a jiffy! Maybe the achievement tab could work as a quest book, who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. One thing is for sure, Command blockers have one hell of a journey ahead of them.


1.12 adds a lot of new features that could improve wynncraft exponentially! But, making the server switch to 1.12 could have some unforeseen consequences. Firstly it locks Wynncraft in 1.12, it will no longer be backwards compatible with 1.11 below. Secondly It could affect a whole variety of other things on the server, like existing commands and mechanics. But despite all these odds, I think wynncraft could definitely work in 1.12 if enough time is put into the endeavor. Its a gamble, but I saw its a gamble worth taking!

It's nice in theory, but...

We're still using 1.8. The main focus right now is on reworking a lot of the code so that they can bring on additional developers. I would like to see Wynncraft update to a newer version, but I don't think it'll happen soon. They have four Minecraft updates to transcend. I'm sure it'll happen eventually, but probably not for a while.

 

They will most likely never update wynncraf to a newer version; it would take too much time to update plugins, check bugs, fix bugs, update textures, fix command blocks, test if everything still works, etc...etc...etc...

 

I feel like most of the people here don't even know what the updates have released after 1.10 since all of those updates were complete trash

 

Comeback in 9 years when Wynn is on the verge of actually being fully 1.12

 

They most definitely were not complete trash, like seriously. 1.11.2, the latest update, has rocket elytras and thats pretty useful. And those observer blocks in 1.10 I think which are also really useful too.

 

Also everything from 1.9, 1.10, and 1.11

 

Don't FORGET THE NEW NOTE BLOCK SOUNDS SO MUCH NEW AND AMAZING WYNN MUSIC CAN BE MADE WITH THEM

1.12 Had 2 basic updates:

Gives noobs an easier time at the game
Auto Narrator
Auto Crafting Book
Tutorial
Functions (Works with below as well)

and having maps be easier
+more blocks
+Functions (Combines command blocks)
+More sounds! NOTE BLOCKS BOIIIIII


so overall its a positive update fpr wymm

 

They also added this sound from heaven that definitely fits leveling up on wynn

of course they will eventually, it already begun with weapon skins. I believe they'll update to 1.9, and then it'll be easier to update from there, because I think the biggest problem is 1.8->1.9
