Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"You sure hang out with an odd crowd if that's the case." He sighs.

"Do you know how long it'll be? I still want to get back to that goddess' palace and explore more."

 

"That's one way to put them."
I nod.
"So, what were you up to?"

"Who? Xlentia?"

 

"Checking the crops, trying to figure out what the hell your friend did. I appreciate the revival, but it screwed up the air and imbalanced the nutrients in the soil."

"Yeah, I think so. The one that's wandering around the lowlands?"

 

"Did it? That's unfortunate. We're really just trying to help."

Crystal looks around.
"Yup, that's her."

 

"I'm not saying you had ill intentions, I'm saying what happened. Apologies and workaround speeches don't get shit done."

He's approaching the mantis forest.

 

"I know. But I frankly don't know how to make soil or air better."
I state.

Crystal makes sure he's going the right way towards the castle, then goes.

 

"Good thing we aren't all dead, then. Better thing I was a diligent student, considering I may be the only one that can smooth out the rough edges of your friend's work."
(@Nepeta Leijon this is all in earshot of Artemis, if she cares)

Ytir keeps following, the broken and bloody wall visible in minutes.
"Oh, yikes..." He comments.

 

"Well, thanks."
I nod.

"Eugh. It looks a lot worse when you're not flying over it."
Crystal comments.

 

"Yeah. One other thing... I found something one day when teach tried to get the class to fly. Figured I got the hang of it, so I jumped off the edge onto the lowlands, and grabbed it. Stupid crap like it won't do me much good." He says, handing you three small red orbs with an odd semi-physical string connecting them.
"I dunno, you aren't from here. Figured you could make heads or tails of it."

"Well... be glad you can't really smell. Because it smells even worse than it looks." Ytir complains.

 

"Don't acare your big sister, Kiin. She loves you, as do I and your father." Aquira says.

Artemis opens an eye, looking over.

 

"I didn't mean to, I just tried to open the vault, then passed out."

There's a wind mage talking to Thirteen, handing him a red object that feels vaguely familiar. Beside Artemis, a few bits of upturned soil are likely his work.

 

"Which vault?" Aquira asks, slightly confused.


Artemis gets up, casually walking over to the mage.

 

"Didn't mother tell you?" Kiin asks, confused.


He glances over.
"Thanks for the crops, lady."
His attitude is rash, but he's at least to the point...

 

Aquira shakes her head.


"It's sort of my duty. What's with the upturned soil?" Artemis asks calmly.

 

Kiin yawns, weakly coughing up a small blue gem.
"T-there. You're a captain anyways... go see it."

"Nutrient checks. You reduced the longevity of the farmable soil by five years, in case that information is relevant to you."

 

Aquira tries using the crystal.


"Impossible. If anything, I should have increased harvest rates and quality of both the soil and crops." Artemis says.

 

She finds herself teleported to a dark room, albeit next to a light switch.

"You did, however, only to the plants themselves. The soil's overloaded with nutrients as far as the mycorrhizae are concerned. Not like fungal spores talk, but you get my point."

 

Aquira tries activating the switch.


"That's...strange. That shouldn't have happened." Artemis says, confused.

 

Lights slowly turn on in the room, revealing hundreds of draconians held in cryostasis, and a double-door at the other end of the room.
Each one is asleep in a ready position, weapons in hand as if frozen on guard duty.

"Perhaps you are not used to the oddities of my home? It's an easy fix, really. Isolate excess and bring them down, so as new crops are watered the excess will serve to extend the lifespan of the soil." Leo suggests. "I know a survivor who can do that if you don't want to."

 

Aquira, smirking, tries tapping one of the draconians held in cryostasis lightly with her cutlass.


"Well, considering I'm not from here, nor even this universe, I don't think I'd know about the oddities." Artemis says calmly.
