Guide How To Deal With Scamming & How To Know If Someone Is Scamming You

As we all know, scamming is pretty a pretty big deal in the trade market.
So here are a few tips to avoid being scammed, and what to do if you do get scammed.
What is scamming? 8. Do not scam players.
(Selling something that is grossly overpriced, tricking someone into buying an item that was not promised. If an unidentified item that is advertised wrongly is sold the seller must give a full refund or receive a permanent ban.)

OVERPRICING AND UNDERBUYING BY A SMALL MARGIN IS NOT SCAMMING.

Before the trade:​

• Ask the seller how much the item is worth and who price checked it, ask for an exact ign, and contact the price checker. If it hasn't been price checked, refuse to buy it unless it has been price checked.
• Screenshot/record big trades
• If the seller says "Someone else has an offer of {this much}", ask who has that offer. Make sure they give an exact ign. Once you get the ign, look it up here and see if that player is even active anymore. And ask that player if that offer is valid.
• If you think someone is attempting to scam you, contact a moderator immediately.
• Try to do your trades through forum posts, that way other traders can help you out.
• If you are in-game, ask other known players around you what an item's worth is.
• Try to keep your trades in the public chat, instead of pm. That way you will have witnesses if someone attempts to scam you.
• If Buying unidentified items, make sure that you know exactly what the item is.

During the trade:​

• Make sure they are trading the item promised. [Example. I was once buying an Az, and the seller switched the Az for a Spiritshock (both of them have the same weapon skin) without me realizing, and I paid a stack of le for a spiritshock.] To prevent this, lock in (click the check mark once), then make sure it's the right item. This way the person can't switch items without you knowing.
• When doing trades that require more currency than what can be fit on the trade window, contact a staff member to be the middle man.

After the trade:​

• Ask others how much the item you bought is worth. If there is a pretty big gap between what others say and the price you bought it for, it is very likely you got scammed. But you should have checked before you traded, so part of that is on you.
• If you figure out you've been scammed, contact a moderator and provide them all the evidence you have of the trade. Without evidence, they can do nothing unless the seller confesses he scammed you.
• Ask the seller if you could have a refund. Be polite and don't directly accuse them of scamming.
• If you bought an unidentified item, make sure that it is the item you were promised. If it wasn't, get proof and contact a mod.
