"Whatever, none of that will matter when you bow to me and Tenebrae." I say evilly.

 

"If I'm bowing to you and Tenebrae, then what about Artemis?"

 

"You'll bow to her too." I say.

 

"Don't mind me while I let Katie and Abigail know you're gonna go all Hive Master on them."

 

"You're such a buzzkill." I say, annoyed.

 

"You sound just like Xlentia. Guess that's a start on your grand quest for ultimate power." She giggles.

 

"I'm glad you're not here right now to laugh at me." I say, heading to the palace vault.

 

"I mean, I'm laughing over here, but still. I'm gonna guess... you're heading into your vault?"

 

I go quiet for a bit, entering the vault stacked with money and treasures.

"Unlike Xlentia I have money stored away for legitimate reasons instead of swimming around in it like some cartoon duck." I say.

 

"Also unlike Xlentia, you also have legitimate reasons to have money in the first place." She laughs.

 

"I don't understand Xlentia sometimes." I say, putting the scale in the vault.

 

"That's usually my line."

 

"I'm surprised you need to even babysit her." I say, leaving the vault.

 

"If you think she's a handful, how do you think a tribe of, say, forest guardians would think of her? Straight up insane? Someone needs to help her manage her image, as crappy as it is anyways."

 

"I think I prefer having gods that can take care of themselves." I say.

 

"I mean, I would too, but Xlentia really needs someone to be there for her. If that person is me and I'm stuck with it, so be it. Can you imagine letting her loose on a true rampage, though? She has the power to erase things from time and space; rampant use could easily destroy an entire reality."

 

"I guess..." I say.

"What if time and space powers were used to stop her?" I ask after a pause.

 

"Then you have the problem that her role is actually vital and there'll be no safe way to get rid of things that shouldn't exist."

 

"I'd rather not try to think about that along with the paperwork." I say.

 

"The kingdom ran fine on its own while you were with us, and I know you weren't doing paperwork with Ihra. Get this done, but don't sweat it. You'll get yourself in a mental situation like Xlentia, and I'll be damned if you find anyone else who wants more of that."
