Even if the wards were the equivalent of a 9th level spell, Dispel Magic would still work on a 16 or higher roll.

 

He went insane researching the Infernal Lords, before he made the pact with Lilith.

Now every time he dies, he rerolls the insanity tables to see the new effect.

That's the chaotic side of him. The lawful side is the part that wants to kill Lilith. That's why I said he's both CE and LE
