There's at least 2 people/groups in this city that will give you shelter for a night.

The man from the criminal group, who de house was above the basement.
Could always go to a hotel.
Maybe the guards will?

 

BTW, just looking at the PHB, 2 gp per person per night for an inn seems a little pricy...

From something official, probably the SRD:

"One gold piece is worth ten silver pieces, the most prevalent coin among commoners. A silver piece buys a laborer's work for half a day, a flask of lamp oil, or a night's rest in a poor inn. "

While the inn we stayed at probably wasn't a poor one, I doubt it warrants the equivalent of 20 sp...

Alas : "The guards can provide us some rooms I think, we got their informations, we will be paid, and we will have some rooms to rest, they can't refuse with what we did."
