Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"We are. I guess if she's at her home, we'll be there eventually."

 

"Why wouldn't she be home, though?"

 

"She might be off with her boyfriend."

 

"Who?"

 

Stephanie takes out a bottle, some of the air being sucked into it by a crystal in the bottom as she uncorks it before quickly corking it again, looking at the bottle.

 

The bottle has a slight purple tint inside it, and the cork ends up withering slightly.

 

"AJ. I don't think you've met him in person, yet."

 

Stephanie, curious, summons a daisy and uncorks the bottle, the air remaining trapped inside as she drops the daisy in and corks it.

 

The daisy withers almost to dust before she even gets it in the bottle.

"Aj...? Only if he was with Artemis when she visited."

 

Pause.
"What if he was?"

 

Stephanie opens her tome, searching through the pages for any research or solutions to a similar case, glancing at the bottle occasionally. Eventually, Stephanie finds a page, reading up on a possible solution.

"This is certainly strange..." Stephanie comments.

 

"Then I didn't see him."

"It's been this way for... well, a really long time."

 

"Well, he's a magic user as well, so there's that."

 

"So... hidden?"

 

"I'm sorry to hear that. Can you take me to the respite?" Stephanie asks.

 

"He could've been."

 

"You can't miss it. That giant bubble-looking thing where the kingdom is? That's all the respite there is."

"Why wouldn't he have wanted to show himself?"

 

"He has his reasons. You might be able to ask him when we see him."

 

"Ok, thank you for all your help!" Stephanie says, flying down slightly and petting Gau lightly before flying off toward the respite.

 

Gau seems startled, but accepts the pet as Stephanie flies off.

From below, it reeks of death, but the respite is nigh impossible to miss with the smoldering ruins and battered wall.

"...What if we don't see him?"
