"Coinflip it is! Is heads Maralune or Xyrnal? You pick."

 

"Uh, Maralune!"

 

"That's sad to hear. What happened?" Eve asks.

"A new arm. He said that's what you wanted as a reward for your help." Eve says.

 

Xlentia grabs a piece of gold and throws it up.
...it still has yet to hit the ground. Crystal may want to move.

Neal seems annoyed, but says nothing.

 

"If you wish, I could expand the reward to cover another item, as a gesture of kindness." Eve says.

 

"Nineteen blew them all up. Or decapitated them. Or... well, there was twenty-three of them, most of them died in different ways."

He does so, jogging away from the coin.

 

"So your name is like a production number? You were the thirteenth created?" Eve asks.

 

"I'm surprised to get anything after you tried to kill me. But of course I wish. I want that arm and to meet that Eldritch Abomination."

It bounces a few times, tremors pulsing as it bounces...

...until it lands on heads.
"Maralune it is, I guess."

 

"Yup. It's much easier for analysis purposes to have your machines listed with numbers, not names."

"Alright. Let's go, then."

 

Xlentia claws open a portal and steps through.

Eve can see Xlentia's foot step onto the lowlands off the edge of the cliff.

 

"He is a Shadow, a creature of darkness brought to life, essentially, taking on the form of a human. He has no ties with the eldritch, as they are a different category," Eve says, "Anyway, other than the arm, what is your second request for a reward?"

"Also, I am under strict orders not to kill you. Before, I could only paralyse, and now I cannot harm you unless it is in self defence." Eve clarifies.

"How many of you were created?" Eve asks.

Eve records it, interested but keeping up her conversations with Thirteen and Neal.

 

"That is slightly creepy. Can you all not talk in unison? And do you have names?"

 

Crystal follows.
"Do you mind if I ride you?"
He asks.

"Nineteen. Nineteen killed them all."

 

"Except for you? Or did Nineteen not attack their own kind?" Eve asks.

 

"Collateral damaged killed a few. I was lucky to get out alive."

 

"Is Nineteen still alive?" Eve asks, intrigued.

 

"So... an Eldritch nightmare?" Neal asks. "There is no being of darkness that lacks a connection to the Eldritch."

Neal soon just stops talking and moving upon noticing Xlentia now fully next to the castle.
"I dunno how much we'll have to search, anyways."

"Derrin."
"Yrutun."
"Nuloe."
"Hra'gayal."
"Rineth."

"Not at all." Xlentia says, stepping through. "I dunno how much we'll have to search, anyways."

 

Eve offers her hand to take, smiling.

"I can get you away from here if the goddess' presence scares you." Eve says.

 

Crystal makes himself an earthen pillar up to Xelentia's back, boarding her.

"Hell if I know. If he is, he's probably ruling a kingdom of his own."

 

"Wow, he sounds powerful. I think I much prefer what I've seen of the thirteeth robot created in his line, however." Eve says happily.
