Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"There's no win situation here."

He winds up going back to shore.
On the bright side, he just needs to follow the line back to get halfway through.

The queen accepts the handshake again.
"Nice to meet you too. Thank you for this, it means a lot... but it still hurts knowing that I couldn't keep my family safe." She sighs.

 

"Sometimes tasks cannot be completed alone, there's no shame in asking for help." Charlie says.

"If we're talking about keeping people safe, then I believe an introduction from myself is in order," A voice says, a large, armoured and well-armed Shadow appearing next to Charlie and Lily, "Greetings, my name is Philip, I'm the head of the guards watching over your daughter and her surroundings and keeping her safe from any threats."

Philip bows respectfully.

 

"It's a pleasure to meet you." The queen says, offering a handshake.

 

Philip shakes the queen's hand.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too." Philip says, smiling.

 

"Well, it would seem my daughter is in good hands. Do take care to keep her toys around her; once she gets worked up, the Academy wizards couldn't get any spell to stick."

 

"We shall. She seems very attached to them, as do they to her." Lily says, smiling.

 

"Well, it was nice meeting you all. I'll be taking my leave now, checking on the Inhibitor reconstruction. Thanks again!"

 

"Feel free to visit again!" Charlie says happily as Philip disappears, leaving no trace of him ever being there.

 

The queen nods as she heads out the door.

-Meanwhile-
"Katie, what day is it?" Kiin asks, unsure of how to read the calendar she's looking at.

 

"It's the 14th today!" Katie says happily.

 

Kiin leaps into Katie's arms.
"Mommy promised to come home today!" She says happily.

 

"I know, I can't wait to see her too!" Katie says, smiling.

 

Kiin runs up to the dock, excited.

 

There doesn't seem to be a dock, nor any signs of a ship.

 

Kiin pauses before running up to the beach the ship sometimes pulls up to.

 

There doesn't seem to be any signs of a ship, before a very small wooden boat with a crystal powering it and a letter inside can be seen sailing to shore.

 

Kiin freeze-skates over, reading the letter.

 

The letter seems to be written for Katie, her name on the envelope and inside.

"Dear Katie,

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but my voyage will keep me away from home for a lot longer than just two weeks. Please tell Kiin this as kindly as possible and be as nice as possible to her. I'm sure she'll be distraught when she hears I won't be able to come home when I promised.

Your Father and I miss you and Kiin, and we love you both very much.
From Captain Aquira."

 

She lets out a roar as she rips up the letter, starting to open up a portal to the Void.

 

Katie, confused, swims up to the surface.

"Kiin? What are you doing? What's wrong?" Katie asks, confused.
