Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, I can assure you I'm not," I say, summoning a wrapped sweet and placing it on the ground in front of me, stepping far back from it, "There's no need to be afraid of me, I'm not a monster, I can assure you."

 

"You scared sissy. I don't like her, but that was just mean." They whisper.

More plastic creaking/squeaking.

 

"I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention. Some people are more prone to being scared than others." I say, using night vision to see clearer as well as checking on other planes of reality to figure out what the squeaking is.

 

There seems to be some artificial life force floating about near a young girl.
"It's just Missy Maralune. Or Wolfy, if my pillow fell off."
The closet opens slightly, and scared green eyes peek out at you.

 

I think for a moment, before changing size and form to a much younger version of myself, aiming to be around the age of the young girl.

"Wolfy?" I ask, my voice noticeably higher pitched and more child-like than before from the age drop.

 

The closet door slams shut.
"Wolfy's right there."
More squeaking, before suddenly the inflatable toy/bed is standing right beside you.
"Mommy had a wizard make him move."

 

"Oh, like a golem?" I ask, reaching out timidly to the bed to pet it.

 

"It seems like a lot of magic would require that. Then again, what do I know."

 

"But softer." They agree.
It doesn't respond to the petting, but the upside of that is that it's not giving off any warning signs that you're making yourself less approachable.

 

"Surprisingly, psychic powers don't require that much magic, it's just a strain on the mind." Stephanie says happily.

I try taking a step closer, smiling.

"So what are the names of all your toys?" I ask, my younger voice rather fitting with the question.

 

"Wolfy and Missy Maralune." She says. "Wolfy is a soft bed and Missy Maralune is nice and takes care of me. Both are soft and huggable!"

 

"Is that so? Once again, I wouldn't know, I think the only magic I've ever used is portals or the fire crystals in my feet."

 

"Oh! I know someone soft and huggable! Her name is Onyx, she's a super adorable kitty cat!" I say happily, "I can take you to meet her if you want! She's really friendly!"

"I still remember installing those. Are they still working fine?" Stephanie asks.

 

"Certainly. Fly helps, a lot. I don't think I can show you, though, considering fire makes light."

 

"You have a kitty? Can she stay away from Wolfy and Missy."

 

"Well, light not attuned to Shadows." Stephanie says.

The library seems rather well lit compared to the twilight of the palace, yet the Shadows in it seem fine.

"She's not a mean kitty that pops things, but I can keep her away from them," I say, taking another step, "Oh, I forgot, did I introduce myself? I'm Aj. What's your name?"

 

"I'm Perry. Could you stop pretending to be little?"

 

"Huh. Well, they work fine. So, have you just been up to this all this time?"

 

"Oh, sorry. I just wanted to make you feel a little bit more comfortable." I say, growing as I change back.

"It's nice to meet you, Perry." I say, sitting down cross legged.

"Mainly just research and relaxing. I've found some pretty interesting stuff in my tome, like a theory that our universe is actually inside a giant frog or something. It sounds absurd but the evidence is kind of compelling." Stephanie says happily.

 

"Sounds like the 'our world is inside the eye of a blue eyed giant' theory."
I comment.
