Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

A few crumbled bricks and a raptor scrambling out of the debris.

"However, if you wish to meet her - and keep in mind her escort can kill you just to bring you back in order to do it all over again - I'd do as they say."

The town seems modest but well-off. Everyone seems used to stealing and being stolen from, and it sounds like from conversations you overhear that heirlooms often rotate from house to house since few people bother trying to stop thieves.

The school is run-down and out for the summer, but there's a lamp on inside.

 

I knock on the door.

 

Artemis flies back inside, her hand increasing in size as she punches it against a wall, attempting to break through with immense force.

 

"They'll have to catch me first if they want to kill me."

 

I quickly approach the raptor, and ask them,
"What's going on here?"

 

A chain of snakes from a gorgon's hair opens the door.
"Good afternoon. Can I help you?" She asks.

"I dunno... b-but please get t-this off me!" They groan, trying to move half of a brick off their wing.

"That isn't hard for chronomancers."

She winds up cracking a few bricks as well as busting up her hand, though the latter is fixable.

 

"How'd you get in here?"
I ask, lifting the brick up.

 

Artemis' hand fills in with darkness as she darts out of the room at an inhuman speed, searching for traces of people.

 

They drag themselves out.
"A nice lady brought me in. Said it could be a trap, but the only way to make her have a chance at getting to some royal family is if I sat on a rug. So I did."

There are traces of people everywhere, all but five fleeing.

 

Artemis darts toward the five fleeing, quickly scanning them over to see if they look like royalty.

 

Four out of the five that aren't fleeing are royalty still in the room. The other seems to utterly vanish as it reaches the bottom of a stairwell.

 

"Ah, I am a traveller from a far-off land, and I wish to learn about this village."

 

Artemis tries to keep track of their life signal while checking on other plains of reality, quickly descending the stairwell too.

 

They're gone, but she'd need to break into the stairwell to chase.

"What about it do you wish to learn?"

 

Artemis seems to become surrounded by darkness as she teleports through into the stairwell, racing down it.

 

As she reaches the bottom, there's a door with a magic seal and the sound latching lock.

 

Artemis tries attacking the door.

 

It holds, but a childish scream can be heard from the other side.

 

Artemis starts drawing runes in the air, channelling her magic as the runes fly toward the door, colliding with it and weakening its magic.

 

The seal hardly weakens, but Artemis is making progress. If time wasn't of the esscence, it'd be okay to keep bombarding the door.
