Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Not what I meant..." I sigh
"We should take your dad somewhere it won't be seen."

 

"I thought I burned my dad down too...?" Anne asks.
Laze just sighs.

There's huge amounts of life forces ahead, and as she soon finds out, most of them are guards.
"And what is your business here?"

 

"Sometimes, I don't know when you are being serious or just joking Anne...."

 

"I wish to speak with the royalty." Artemis says calmly.

 

"No, really. I thought I left no survivors."

"Why?"

 

"I want to find out more about the Ruin. As the fuel for the device that keeps it at bay, I thought they would be the best people to go to." Artemis says honestly.

 

"Why do you want to know? You've come from the land of those monsters, and we've seen you with them before."

 

"Anyway. Laze. I need to know where this 'Prophet' is. I need to talk to them."

 

"They should be coming through a strange portal later today. I could bring you there if you'd like."

 

"I've got nothing else to do."
I admit.

 

"I am an alien, if you will. However, I do wish to see the lands thrive with life. I believe through co-operation and research, we can purge this Ruin. In order to do that, though, I must know about the Ruin." Artemis says calmly.

 

"Then I'll follow you there."

"Why would you want to spread the respite? Are you saying you side with the monsters beyond our walls?"

 

"I am, or was before I came here, a Forest Guardian. A protector of nature and life. Would you like to live in a claustrophobic area that will eventually become overpopulated and cramped, while the world around you crumbles to ruin? Or would you rather attempt to solve the problem instead of hiding like a turtle from it?" Artemis asks.

 

"I would rather live in a cramped area than grace those wretches of nature with our luxuries."

 

"Have you actually met them? Or even tried to communicate with them? Or are you just going to blindly assume that because something is different to you, it is automatically bad?" Artemis asks.

 

"They are savages, except for the possibility of the Mantis Matriarch and her alone. The rest are bloodthirsty killers who kill us at every chance they get."

 

"There are mothers, struggling to get enough food to feed their children. There are sick and wounded unable to find treatment in such a barren landscape. They are not bloodthirsty killers, they are intelligent beings facing the same struggles as you would. The only reason they may seem like they want to attack you is through desperation. Nobody is a naturally born killer, it is through circumstance, lack of care, desperation to survive, that they are created. Put yourself in their shoes, and theirs in yours, and tell me you wouldn't do the same." Artemis says.

 

"Prove it. Bring a raptor, and have them lay on the mat next to the stairwell. If they never lash out, I will permit you the information you seek."

 

"How can I trust you won't use that as a trap for the raptor? Hiding a pit or net under the mat?" Artemis asks, suspicious, "You have shown no kindness towards the raptors so far, so I can only assume you're trying to use me to get one for free."

 

"Very well. Anne you should go and rest. You look tired."
