Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The lamia cuts the connection.
"Yes. Welcome to our humble town, Terrae."

Akli'il nods.
"Well, you two done running around?"
"Yes." Eklir grunts.
"For a while." Fuela sighs.

"That makes it sound like you've used violence as a method of doing everything thus far. Have you considered giving them a trade offer? Your friends seem to have access to more than our world could ever dream of; surely you could find something they're interested in?"

 

"Good to hear."
I say generally, then focus on Akli'il once more.
"So, are you with us, or do you still need to wait?"

 

"I retract my previous word. I'll give half my fighters to you, but the rest I need to keep on patrols."

 

I nod.
"I'll let you know when we need them, and I'll update you on plans regularly. In the meantime, I'm sure Aral'hrah will be happy to hear the news."

 

"Most likely. I might talk to him personally, if you could arrange it; everything seems to have changed. Usually, our patrols would have a skirmish if they crossed. I've been telling my patrols not to push in as they keep their distance, in case they're trying to lure us into something. However, yesterday, my patrol reported exchanging info with his." Akli'il says. "I still believe that this world runs by kill or be killed, but I think I have been too narrow sighted when it comes to our actual enemy."

 

I shrug.
"It depends on everyone else in the world. The main question is of who's ready to change first. Anyways, I could escort you, if you'd like."
I offer.

 

"Thank you." I say, entering.

 

"I offered them my abilities to kill any other criminals, but they weren't interested." Artemis says.

 

"It appears there is a lot you haven't told us." I ask Anne

 

"That'd be preferable." Akli'il says. "I can go whenever it's convenient for you."

"Duh, but I figured you mind reading freaks would've invaded my privacy a long time ago."

"They throw their criminals over the wall. Akli'il's tribe tends to take them for food."

It's a quiet town, stone and log structures throughout. Creatures of various sorts roam the streets, from werewolves and wyverns to giant spiders and lamia.

 

"What would be a suitable trade for access to their castle then?" Artemis asks, "Do you know if they are in need of anything specific?"

 

"Thing is, Eklir is Akli'il's right hand raptor. If they want him as an entry fee, I fear they'd demand me or a chief as stronghold entry." The Matriarch says. "However, if you had someone show up with intricate jewelry or riches, you may be able to get them interested in talking trade."

 

"Well...I guess I could take some stuff from the treasury..." Artemis says, more to herself.

 

"If the raptors weren't joking, I'm not sure the collosal dragoness would appreciate that."

 

"No, I meant my boyfriend's treasury. He uh...stores stuff in our basement and calls it his treasury." Artemis lies.

 

"Sounds a bit like you're a queen." The Matriarch shrugs.

 

"He calls me his queen, but by the way royalty works, I'm more of a princess," Artemis says, "Though even then, he'd need to be part of the royalty of his kingdom."

 

"Well, if you ever bring him here, I'd love to meet him." She says. "I'm going to head up and take another nap. Art kinda takes it out of you sometimes."

 

"Ok, I'll go see what showing up with a bit of jewellery will do for me." Artemis says, before seeming to disappear into a quickly dissipating cloud of darkness.

 

The Matriarch just blinks before leaving the dungeon.
