Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

It seems to twist the rose's appearance further.

"She's still similar."

 

Artemis tries to dig her hand into the dirt, attempting to feel any deformities or infections.

 

"In looks."

"It's called the Ruin."
I say to Artemis.

 

"I heard about it from Emerald. I just...didn't know it'd be this bad." Artemis says, seeming emotionally hurt from her failed attempts to grow a rose.

 

"Yeah, it's something, alright."

 

"How are the inhabitants dealing with it?" Artemis asks.

 

There seems to be some kind of residual toxin that messes with the terrain.

"Fair point."

"What do you mean?" One of the raptors asks, eyeing the demented rose with confusion.

 

"Fine." I say without much enthusiasm
"Go find Anne, I may have shocked her a bit too much."

 

"Are you able to survive here without much hassle?" Artemis asks.

 

"It's not like she's moved. I wouldn't be surprised if someone ate her, though." Laze says, leaving.

"No. There are never reserves." The raptors complain. "We have to go down to the lowlands to keep any sort of inventory of just about anything, unless it gets burnt."

 

"Is everywhere like this?" Artemis asks, concerned.

 

"Everywhere except the Ruin's Respite, but the kingdom guards it heavily."

 

"What prevents the ruin from spreading to the Ruin's Respite?" Artemis asks.

 

"A device called the Inhibitor."

 

"Is there any way to make more? Or increase it's effect?" Artemis asks, curious.

 

"I don't know."

 

Artemis looks around, trying to see how bad the Ruin actually is.

 

It's as far as the eye can see, even off the edge of the nearby cliff.

 

Artemis, slightly worried, tries growing a vine.

 

It grows a sickly green, twisting and writhing as it doesn't even live a second before dying out without Artemis running energy through it.
