"It's not hard to throw a net over a corpse as light as a raptor and hightail it back with the net."

 

"Fair enough."
I say, then seemingly start to think.

 

Artemis looks at Emerald with her non-covered eye.

Aral'hrah waits, almost as if expecting something.

"Which one do you want to know about? They all have their own troubles." She says. "Maralune, Entelp, Xyrnal, or Asimuul?"

 

"Uh...Xyrnal?" Artemis asks, looking confused.

 

"If we don't have any corpses, we can't do much about this."

 

"Reports of Ragnyon and Ihra, calling both "the Prophet" are common. The tribe of dragons living in a mountain range keep what they claim to be one of Ihra's corpses as a symbol of hope as her sacrifice on an earlier adventure saved them from being pushed out of their home.
There's also a shapeshifter village and a hydra that's overprotective of his swamp. Furthermore, the world has four 'Guardian Beasts' with a handler for each of them. We opened it for you because there was a rumor that within the capitals of two ruined nations lies relics that would, for better or for worse, greatly assist my ability to chronicle Ihra's past adventures."

"So... you aren't going to kill one of us, are you?"

 

"Not without consent."
I reassure.

 

"Just like the gauntlet, I doubt anyone's going to volunteer to be a mangled corpse."

 

"That sounds interesting. How about Maralune?" Artemis asks happily.

 

I shrug.
"You're probably right, which is a problem."

 

"A planet that's coated in a pseudotoxin called The Ruin. In reality, it only affects the terrain of the planet, however the locals still despise it. Raptors and mantis reside there, and were willing to open a portal in return for the hope they may receive help retrieving an inhibitor that keeps The Ruin at bay from a heavily fortified stronghold. Not too much is known except that the name Maralune itself holds some significance to a few locals."

"Yeah..."

 

Artemis seems rather intrigued, "What does the ruin do to say, forest life?" She asks.

 

"If you wish, you may want to look for yourself. The Mantis reside in the twisted forest near where the portal leads, but nearly everything is distrusting and hostile. I can only plead you don't kill the creatures who live in the ruin; they suffer enough scavenging every last scrap they can to survive." Emerald says.

 

"Do you think Akli'il likes Eklir's company?"

 

"I'd ask Gau. He lives there, not me."

 

Artemis seems hesistant, thinking for a bit, before seeming to come to a decision.

"I'll do it. I'll help them." Artemis says, nodding.

 

I nod.
"Alright."
I start walking, looking for Gau.

 

"I think one of your other group members went through, too. Maybe you can make sure they haven't needed the Immortality Protocol too much." Emerald suggests.

Gau's staying near the portal, curiously looking at it as he steps towards and then away from it.

 

"Go on through, it doesn't hurt."
I invite, walking up to him.
