Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Isn't that what healers are for?" She asks, still stubborn.

 

"Yes, but sometimes you can't be healed. There's only so much you can take, and you're still very young Kiin." Aquira says, kneeling down to Kiin's level.

 

"Pleeeeease?" Kiin begs, flustered.

 

"I'm sorry, Kiin, but no." Aquira says.

 

"But you never come home too hurt!" She complains. "And as captain, you're targeted too!"

 

"Sorry, can't let you get into harms way."
I run out of the mountain and ask Laze what's going on

 

"As my daughter, you're even more targeted." Aquira says.

 

Laze is in the mountain with you.
"What was that for?"

"Out of sight, out of mind." Kiin says. "Please, just one trip."

 

"Well, I don't know a lot of the people around here."
I admit.
"We have over two thousand at our disposal. I'd take it that perchance someone would like to run it as well."

 

"I don't think anyone wants to run a gauntlet."

 

I nod.
"What are you going to while we wait for the raptor chiefs?"

 

"I dunno. Wait?"

 

"Why not ask around, then?"
I suggest.
"It's better than nothing."

 

"Don't worry, sweetie." Aquira says, kissing Kiin on the forehead.

"Captain! The winds are good for departure!" One of the air guardians calls.

"I have to go now. Stay safe, and be nice to your sister!" Aquira says as she boards her ship, heading to the wheel as the crew readies the ship to depart.

 

"Ask around? We're it for the highlands!"

Kiin doesn't let go of Aquira's sleeve.
"Why wait for good winds when you control them?"

 

"What's wrong with asking around our own troops?"

 

"Won't that make them doubt your sanity even more?"

 

"How so?"

 

"Asking anyone if they want to run through a hall of traps?" Gau says. "Most of the others think your alliance is crazy in the first place."

 

"Elaborate more. We're not playing a game, here, if someone can make it through the traps, then there'll most likely be something that will help at the end. And no one has to do it."
