Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Onyx just curls up, scared.

 

I walk closer and stand by, purposefully not interrupting.

"It's okay. We had fun, didn't we?"
Crystal says, attentive to the field.

 

An invisible hand, warm, pets her gently.
"It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you. I just need to do my job so she doesn't get mad at me when I get back."

Orchid looks over.
"Matriarch, he's back."
"Oh, good!"
"Here, the report." She says, handing you a folder.

Linoa smiles.
"We sure did."

 

Onyx calms down, not curling up as tightly as she was.

 

"Thank you."
I say, taking it, opening it, and reading.
"I take it that your leg is better?"

Crystal smiles back, then turns his full attention to the field.

 

Pause.
"You understand that, I hope?" They ask, hand slowly becoming warmer.

"Yes, thank you. Your draconian friends are rather kind."
It seems to just be a bunch of numbers, though you can probably subtract a few from Eklir's rampage.
There's a small map marked with three vulnerabilities, one of them being the gauntlet.

The announcers seem to be rotating out as the athletes take one last drink of water before everything starts.

 

Onyx purrs slightly in response.

 

"That's good. I almost feel bad about using them, though, considering I'm giving them a lot more work."
I check the locations of the other two vulnerabilities.

Crystal just continues to watch.

 

The cloaked guard pets Onyx for a bit longer before walking away again.

"They said they owed you."
The vulnerabilities are the two sides of the wall. It seems it isn't finished on the very ends.

"Okay, let's get the qualifiers going!" The announcer calls, one athlete in front of a chain link cage, probably to prevent the hammer from going off in less than ideal directions.
"We'll have three rounds and go in numbered order. Everyone ready?"
*cheering*
"With that, good luck to the competitors, and number 1 may throw when ready."

 

Onyx stretches out as she's pet, before falling asleep on the gold.

 

She's not disturbed during her sleep.

 

Onyx eventually wakes up, using the crystal on her collar to go back to the Shadow Palace.

Meanwhile...

Angela nervously enters Ali's cafe, checking herself over for anything that might be considered a weapon before entering a sitting down at a free table.

 

Ali glances over.
"Morning. Why do you look so nervous?" She asks. "Whatever... water?"

 

"Yes please...I-I'm just afraid of doing something wrong." Angela says nervously.

 

"It'll be fine." She says, going back to get a glass of water.
As Ali emerges, she trips over a handbag left on the ground, splashing a few drops of water on Angela.

"Ugh, s-sorry about that." Ali says, trying to stop a nosebleed with her sleeve.

 

"Oh no, are you ok?" Angela asks, concerned getting up to try and help Ali.

 

"I think so... c-could you grab a few napkins please?" She asks, sitting up.

 

Angela quickly grabs a small handful of napkins, offering them to Ali.

 

She stuffs her snout with them, pained.
"Thanks."

 

"C-Can I get you anything? Like pain killers?" Angela asks, worried.
