Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"How do you make it up to her when she's that... big?"

"No, doing that would hurt like hell and probably make it worse."

"You are the new leader, right? Prove it." They say, holding out the flower.

Sivius pets her with his free hand.
"I don't speak cat. I suggest you shift and talk to me in your humanoid form." He says, only giving the Void Flower a single drop of water before moving on.

 

"Everybody wants something."

"Oh... then yeah, that just sucks."

 

"How does she not have everything she wants?"

"Pretty much."
The athletes seem to be getting ready.
"That aside... IS EVERYONE READY TO GET THE FINALS UNDERWAY?!" The announcers call, the audience roaring and applauding in response.

 

"Everybody wants something."
I repeat.

Crystal cheers as well.

 

I summon the blood contract I made with the Hydra and show it to them.

 

"That proves nothing. Eat the flower." They say, still holding out the flower.

"What did she want?"

Linoa smiles, keeping quiet.
"We need three more minutes for final checks. Until then, would the nine competitors please ready up in a line?" The announcers call.

 

"Ask her."

Crystal watches.

 

"Where'd she go?"

The nine athletes line up a few yards from the pole, taking one last sip of water before the announcers call attention.
"We're starting the day at 6 foot 6, and we will go up in three inch increments until we have a winner or nobody can make the jump. In the latter case, we will lower the bar one inch until the tie is broken, and raise it one half if there still is a tie. Now, get ready, number 1..."
Pause.
"Go!"
The first athlete sprints up and leaps over the bar, albeit barely.
The process repeats for all eight of the others.

 

"Well, I don't know where she goes to birdwatch, so maybe ask her another time."

Crystal continues watching, interested.

 

"Couldn't you ask the green thing?"

Only one athlete doesn't make it, and the process repeats twice more.

 

"She has a name, you know."

Crystal keeps watching.

 

"You know I don't know her name."

Nobody makes it at 8 feet, and only one person makes it at 7'9", making them the winner. The runner up and third place step onto the podium next to the victor.
"Congratulations number 3, 7, and 6 for your third, second, and first place finishes!" The announcet says as the crowd cheers.

 

"What on earth?" I ask, looking confused and dismayed.
"Goodness, is this some kind of cultural tradition? And how does a Blood Contract prove nothing? Shall I set a meeting between you and the Hydra?"

 

Onyx purrs, staying close to Sivius, though remaining in her cat form.

 

"Yes, it is tradition. Eat the flower, and if you remain in three days time, we will cease our resistance." They say. "Now, eat the flower."

Sivius sighs, petting Onyx as he continues watering the flowers.

 

Onyx continues to purr as she's pet, watching the flowers with a curious eye.

 

They all seem to have dull colors, but they all seem to be otherwise healthy - especially considering there's no sun here in the Void.
Sivius just seems to be watering them all before, as he finishes watering the last flower, vanishing without a warning or trace.

 

Onyx seems rather disappointed and somewhat scared when Sivius vanishes, looking around for him nervously.

 

He's just gone, probably out wandering somewhere. There isn't even a trace of magic residue left behind from a teleport; he just left.

 

Onyx explores the garden some more, hoping to find someone she knows.
