I am referring to them based on the only explanation you have given. If I don't understand how they actually work, then that's due to a lack of info from you. (Not criticizing, just saying that a thorough explanation of the wards was never offered, so I have to make assumptions.)

I am very aware that I never explained the wards. This is purposful. But saying any more would ruin the fun of seeing how you guys treat them

 

The more I think about it, actually, the more convinced I am that the wards are a completely separate thing from the ban on undead, fae, and demons in the city... they're meant to keep something else out... or in... We simply associated the two because they were mentioned at the same time, by the same guard.

I will admit, you are getting closer. Some of the other quests explain the concept further, but I think the criminal quest is what ties it all together.

 

Also I would like to see your thought process on that. I won't tell you if it's write or wrong, that would be boring, but I would like to know.

 

The only thing we were told about the wards was in passing, after we had just been told that fiends, fae, and undead were banned from the city, which more or less led us to associate the two things. Later, when I asked a guard, they responded that the wards should keep the ghouls out in theory (I'm pretty sure this was said), though that may have been a lie. However, what with your meddlesome observationally superior comments, I began to reconsider. The only thing we were ever told for sure was that interfering with the wards was a serious crime. Add that to the strange things going on underneath the city, and the fact that this place is literally called the City of Binding, and, well...



Things start to look suspicious...
