Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"No? I gave you the powers you previously had along with the abilities of a Shadow. Perhaps you're currently just too weak to access them. In a day's worth of rest, you should be able to use your powers again." Tenebrae explains happily.

 

"Yeah, that's what armor's supposed to do. Our deal consisted of me giving you armor, and you giving me the location of the castle. You are not obligated to owe me anything."
I explain.

"They are really close to each other..."
Crystal points out.

 

"Ah, okay... is there anything else that will take more than a few hours of being dormant to recover?" She asks.

"I actually was going to ask if you knew why I can't move my left leg anymore."

"Exactly."

 

"Did it get hit, or something?"
I ask, walking over to his left leg and taking a look.

Crystal turns his attention back to the pool.

 

"Quite a few of your abilities, such as night vision and advanced shape shifting, as well as your resistance to light." Tenebrae says.

 

The leg's bruised, and the armor dented, a few serrated point marks along the dent.

The game's not quite starting again. They're doing something with the pool water.

"I meant like reality tearing and mending, singularity generation, and soul decoys." Alice asks. "The other stuff sounds useful, though. Thank you."

 

I put a little pressure on the leg.
"Can you feel this?"
I ask.

"What're they doing?"
Crystal asks Linoa.

 

"That will take...considerably longer. Rebirth is quite a draining process." Tenebrae says.

 

"Oh... uh, but... can you promise me you won't hold it from me?" Alice asks, hopeful.

"Ghh-yes!"

"I think they're just making sure the pool water is still in good condition and has the right xhemicals still."

 

"I haven't held anything you don't already own from you. If you try to use your old powers now, however, the amount of magic required could kill you instantly." Tenebrae warns.

 

"Sorry."
I say, instantly releasing pressure.
"Now, I don't know much about raptor anatomy, but I at least know that's it's just badly wounded. Is anyone going to kill you over this, excluding humans?"
I ask, clearly serious.

"Why wouldn't it be? And can't they just replace it after the game?"

 

Alice pauses.
"I've seen the king at his limit... how could my body be weaker than his, yet eventually be capable of something that could utterly destroy him?" She asks. "What... paradox, dare I say... is this even?"

"If it lasts, probably."

"People's skin carry tons of little stuff you can't see. Their clothes and skin collect little bits of dust, and once enough people go in an out of a pool, it can mess with the chemicals."

 

"You have the ability to destroy him, but he has much greater stamina, magic, and strength. Magical power is not the only deciding trait. You body is no stronger or weaker than it was before." Tenebrae says.

 

Alice hesitates.
"For a minute, you sounded like Perry." She says with a reminiscent tone. "I hope he found someone worthy..." She trails off, letting the link fade.

 

"Alright. I know some people that can probably help, but you'd have to trust them, okay?"

"If you say so."

 

"Be safe, my child." Tenebrae says. As the link is cut, Alice feels the embrace of a hug for a short moment, before the feeling fades.

 

"What would they ask of me?"

"Even on you. Other than the runes, little bits of dust and stuff get on everything."

Alice smiles, reaching back out to you.
"You were right. It'll just take months for me to be able to use my old abilities."

 

"I'm assuming you were reborn from Tenebrae, which makes sense. You have basically no magic so you can't use your abilities without killing yourself," I explain, "You should probably make some mage crystals to store magic in. You can store a lot as a demigod Shadow, it just helps to have some extra."

 

"I don't know if they would even ask anything. I expect them to, soon, but it'd be my concern, not yours."

"Huh."
Crystal looks at his arm.

 

"What do I need for eighty charges?"

He can't see anything but runes.
