The messenger writes that down. "Five gold bars."

I fly down to the ruins to inspect the work they are currently doing.

 

Alice pauses.
"I guess I'll just let whatever happen, happen."

 

"Do you truly wish to become one of my children?" Tenebrae asks.

 

"That will do as a welcome tribute. The more harm you do, and the price goes up. The more good you do, in her eyes, the lower the price goes."
Pause.
"Then, I'd like a few dragon scales and a handful of refined arcanite powder."

They're reinforcing the cliff walls.

"I suggest you take some time to think it over. Stay here, and you shall become one of my children. Go back to your universe and rid yourself of your Shadow body, and you won't become of my children while in my universe." Tenebrae says.

 

"I can't rid myself of the shadow body."

 

"Well, you may have to leave this universe behind if you do not wish to become a Shadow. The longer you stay here, the less time you'll have until you become a Shadow." Tenebrae says.

 

Alice hesitates.
"I'll... think about it. It may cause complications, but... maybe. Because if I become a part of you, according to the curse, you must die to free the other five siblings of their curses..."

 

"That would be a problem. Though, surely the curse would be attributed to your soul to link it to yourself?" Tenebrae asks.

 

"If my soul, body, knowledge becomes yours, then... you would still hold the curse, even if you made me... not me..."

 

"Dragon Scales, refined Arcanite powder." The messenger says, writing it down.
"What's Arcanite powder?"

I inspect to see what they're doing to the cliffs to reinforce them.

 

"It's an ore I used to have Anna extract from the old mine below what you claimed as your territory."

Some spells, some clay mixture to reinforce the walls.

 

"Your soul would not become mine, in the sense it would be a part of my own soul. Your soul is your own, and it will always be your own. Should you be killed as a Shadow, your soul shall return to me, but it would not become part of my soul, it would more so be contained within me," Tenebrae explains, "Life and Soul were created by Gaia and Mortius together, however I gave the Shadows a Body of darkness."

 

"Well you see, water magic and fire magic don't mix very well. It can cause some pretty disastrous things."

 

"My soul and life are my own. If you accepted me, wouldn't you be inheriting both?"

"Duh. So I need water magic, which is why Inwas hoping you'd come."

 

"How about we collect and refine it, but you pay a portion of the refining cost. Ten percent?"

I fly back to the den of the baby dragon to check on it.

 

"No. I'll refine if you dispose of the tailings."

It's asleep.

 

"Your body and life, should you be killed, yes, but not your soul. I do not own the souls of the king and queen of my realm, they belong to themselves. The souls of Shadows whom have fallen in the past are within me, but they are not part of my own soul." Tenebrae says.

 

Alice nods.
"Then I wish to forfeit myself to you under one condition; I would appreciate if I could still hide in other shadows as I have now." She says, getting ready to end the dream with the dagger.

 

"I shall try my best to allow you to keep your current ability, through the knowledge I shall gain. Come to my statue again when you have become one of my children, and I shall give you a body capable of empowerment as a normal Shadow could, and your ability to hide within other Shadows." Tenebrae says.
