Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Damnit."
I say, sticking the sword in the ground, upright, then walking over to Orchid, and applying pressure to the rag to stop bleeding.
"I don't know too much about how to help a mantis medically, but anyone mind if I take her, see what I can do?"
I ask.

"Oh, okay."
Crystal re-pays attention to the game.

 

"Yeah. I went down where I always harvest hellroot and a bunch of people tried to stop me. I had Beth politely ask them to part, and they did. However, when they came in kicking down my door, I had Beth turn them into souls for later use." She grunts. "Hope you didn't miss them, I pretty much just finished repairing the door."

Kuno shakes his head.
"We don't know much about mantis either. Go ahead." Aral'hrah says. "If you need help carrying her intact, I can send a few with you."

It's a tactical stalemate, one side always waiting out the other until it suddenly ends with a 0-3 player victory for the team on the right.
"That's game, and with that, the Backstreet team has qualified for the annual tournament!" The ref says, causing the Backstreet team to huddle and cheer.
About a minute later, they go to the left side and shake hands with the other team, the team captains staying a while longer than the rest of the team to chat.

 

"I have received word that said demon was not polite in requesting them to part. Also, I do hope you are aware that the ruins are my territory now."

 

"Oh, so sorry. Guess you want me to just stop collecting important arcane herbs?" She asks sarcastically.
"Look, Beth was polite. She didn't flood her surroundings with magma first and ask questions later. She asked them to move first, then she said no and I said no killing the people because this isn't her home. Do you know how rare that is for hellspawn?"

 

"Let me see how well I can carry her, first."
I say, picking her up, one arm on her legs and the other as far up as I can go which still being stable.

"That was cool! I'm glad I got to see that."

 

You can lift her, but there's no way you can stably fly like this.

"Sports are sometimes as fun to watch as they are to play. Do you want to head somewhere else, or should we stay and look for one of the next events?" Linoa asks, smiling.

 

"Give me a moment." I say, opening a link to the head of the survey corps.
"How exactly was the first regiment warded off?"

 

"We told her she must stay out, then a demonic steed stood behind her and then above us. We knew the implications of it jumping down at us, so we let her have her way."

 

"And why was a second regiment sent after them if you had full awareness that there was a demon there?"

 

I try gently slinging her over my shoulder, to see if the helps at all.

"Let's find another event."
Crystal decides.

 

"The demon went home with them, and we sent up the regiment with special weapons and armor meant for slaying infernal beasts. I think she kept all of the armor and blades, because absolutely nothing has made it back to us."

That causes the bleeding in her leg to intensify...

Linoa heads back out, finding the posters which seem to have since been updated.
There's another tennis match followed with a volleyball game, a long and high jump competition, and a swim race followed by water polo.

 

"So the demon followed first regiment? Is this what I am getting?"

 

"No, the demon followed the sorceress home. We then sent a specially equipped second regiment to pursue."

 

Making sure she is stable with one hand, I use the other to try to hold the rag to the open wound in her leg, seeing if this works.

"Water polo's another one that I don't know."
Crystal admits.

 

"The question returns, why was a second regiment sent?"

 

The rag's already utterly soaked.

"Do you know what soccer, or football is? Where people kick a ball around without touching it with their hands and try to get it into the other team's goal? It's sort of like that, but in water and people throw the ball around while swimming."

"To remove the future threat of a hellspawn attack. Needless to say, it utterly failed, seeing as that smug mage yelled at us a few minutes ago."

 

I put the line on hold to talk to the sorceress.
"Did you have any further plans of harassing my men?"

 

"Harassing? If you mean to get more hellroot, then yes. I do monthly gathering runs, and if you're not going to accommodate, then I'm going to cut through your land again." She says honestly.

 

I just go for my original way of holding her.
"I'll see what I can do."
I say, walking back to the void palace.

"Oh, okay. Can we watch that?"

 

Once inside, there's nobody between you and the lab.

"There's a swim race before it. If you don't mind watching that, we can go now, or we could go somewhere else to kill fifteen minutes." Linoa says.
