Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"That's to keep intruders out. The forest always puts people back where they entered." Artemis says.

 

The doors lock and everything's quiet.
The crystal is your ticket out, though you may want to be careful when you use it.

Linoa follows, Muffy sitting on Crystal's shoulder.

"Am I an intruder? It just kept putting me back at home."

 

"Only a forest guardian can navigate those types of forest. The trees hardly move at all, but they're subtle enough to throw people off." Artemis says, petting Sgavrinn.

 

I wait out a full day, inactive.

Crystal shifts to make a better perch for Muffy as he walks.

 

"Well, it kept me in." He says. "But that shadow draconian didn't have any troubles. She just... flew through the trees."

A tray of food is left at the edge of your cell, but other than that, most everything is quiet.

Muffy curls up on the larger platfom, comfortable.

 

"If you can prevent yourself from getting turned around, it is possible to navigate the forests; though most of them will have forest guardians like me trying to kill you," Artemis explains, "Though I’d never let anyone hurt you, Sgavrinn!"

 

I wait another half-day, just to make sure nothing happens or no one comes around.

Crystal looks around once in the city.

 

Sgavrinn hums happily.
"You're the best owner ever!"

After another few hours, things seem to get loud with conversation. With the echo, nothing's audible.

Brick and mortar buildings, modern construction materials like steel, and a skyscraper or two. Contrast the huts made of cloth and scrap wood/metal for those who aren't as well off.

 

I wait it out to see if anything happens.

Crystal looks around at the different types of buildings.

 

"Indeed." I say. "The portal will automatically close in two hours."

 

Artemis just hugs Sgavrinn tightly, smiling.

 

It continues well into the next hour.

There seems to only be one restaurant, but there's many things the shifter village didn't have. Pet shops, schools for dragon riding, art galleries, and an arcade.

Alice smirks, walking over to you.
"On the bright side, you kiss better than that thing ever could." She whispers.

"I will strive to make it in one."

 

I take out the crystal I pocketed earlier, looking at it.

"Where should we go?"
Crystal asks Linoa.

 

"I...don't know how to feel about that." I say, sounding a little put off.

 

"Need some help with that net?" I ask with an amused face
"Seems pretty heavy for you."

 

It contains a single spell. That's all you can understand from looking at it.

"I dunno. I was hoping you'd decide." She shrugs.

"Y-yes..." She admits. "Please."

Alice chuckles.
"I kid, I kid." She reassures. "There's a difference between a pet and a boyfriend, though there's no reason she can't love you both."

 

"Obviously. It's different kinds of love, you wouldn't want to take your cat or something on a date unless you were seriously messed up in the head." I say.

 

"Are you OK? You're stuttering. Here go and rest inside the cave over there." I point to a cave a few feet away
"I'll handle this net."

 

"Especially if that cat is named Muffy and belongs to Linoa." Alice giggles.

 

"Sure... thanks." Anne says, padding into the cave.

A singed hog is in the net, decapitated with a cauterized neck. Seems Anne knows a little fire magic.
