Disclaimer II: I'm not using the quirk. you can tell I'm serious here.


So I'm pretty sure everyone has already seen the updated map.




What i'm here to talk about is the "coming soon" area on the map that many are assuming is Dern.
However, there's a problem with that. Grian said that for all intents and purposes Dern should be treated as a province. That "Coming Soon" area, however, is way too small for a province. What gives?

Well, I don't think that's Dern at all.

Dern is known to be more of a realm than it is a location, but the syntax on that has always been
ambiguous. My theory is that something, probably the Eye, is trying to bring Dern into this dimension, and chose this area to do it for unknown reasons. The villagers, at least, have been trying to stop this for a very long time, but in the process got infected by huge amounts of greed, which is drawing more and more of them away from this area and back to Gavel - The Eye's fault. This greed in Gavel has also been weakening The Realm of Light, which tells us that the eye, at this point anywhere from a single individual to Dern itself, is a masterful plotter.

The Villagers, at the very least, invented the excuse of emeralds and greed to get through the abandoned mines and to this land before The Eye actually infected them with it. They are being secretive because they know that if the adventurers of Wynn knew about this dying land, then they would immediately invade it and cause more harm.

This dying land then, isn't actually Dern. we may not even go to Dern for the first part of its storyline, but eventually we will have to enter it (via portal?) and take the fight to the Eye itself. As for what this land will be called, I have no clue. However, It would be rather funny if this was Bloomi, wouldn't it?

This has to have some kind of relevance to the realm we visited in Fantastic Voyage, because by the end of the quest, we are TPed to the Abandoned Mines.

yeah. Unless a province is really large, then it's more of a nation.

 

There are provinces bigger than nations

 

The Ice nations are much smaller than provinces like Wynn.

Well at least in real life, a province is about the size of a county or half of that...

Maybe;

1. Wynn becomes overcome with Dern's manifestation into our realm and we use The Door of Time to go back and to change time.
2. Enter The Door of Time to see Wynn soon be overcome by Dern's manifestation into our realm and we stop it.

Although remember hearing that DOT has something to do with Fruma. I think releasing Fruma with Dern would be too much, but, Fruma could just released troops to deal with the manifestation.

I'm speculating too much though.

 

The size of the black spot on the map probably isn't all of it. They may expand the map even more one it's complete.

 

I still refuse to think Dernel Jungle has nothing to do with Dern. Even if "Dernel" is an anagram of a builder's name.

 

Well, the temple that goes to the Ancient city is located there, and the ancients are a race which were chased out of Dern, supposedly by the eye.

who said that's the entire size of that area? maybe they just haven't shown the rest to us, also since when does a province have a size limitations?

who told you that? dern is a far away land but it is a physical location.

you know what they say about assuming. no where does it say the villagers fought the darkness.

so opening up the nether portal and starting the corruption was on purpose?

it isn't but it seems like he is the only new theorist that is still active
