"I did. And then I started working for you directly. Last time I checked, my home was being searched for... me. I thank you for the rest, but it's not going to last if I don't pick up where my sister left off."

 

"The rookie found me, and sent me."
I say, taking one more step before stopping.

"Sorry, I can't really help it."

 

"Alright. Begin breaking camp. I'm sending you over to another realm to survey the nearby area for any potentially resource rich portions" I say, ending the communication.

 

"Psh, he did something?"
They look up.
"Shit... yes he did. You're wanted for conspiring against the kingdom."

"I know, I just didn't realize it look like you're a walking prism."

"Wait, sir, we-"

 

"Why?"
I seem confused.

Crystal just shrugs.
"I guess so."

 

"We've seen a mantis with a raptor. Unharmed, no hard feelings. Nothing like this was remotely close to happening, and I'm sure of it... until you got here. So, you're connected to this somehow, and our guard's already stretched thin."

"I mean, there's like a pink rainbow below you at all times up here." Linoa says, pointing down.

 

"Well, even though I hold no responsibility for this, I feel as though defending myself will be useless. So, what will you do?"
I ask, not at all threatening.

Crystal look down, checking.

 

"Start asking your perspective. From when you first came to this world, to now."

There's a rainbow with a purplish pink filter, though it's hard to see considering it's coming from him.

 

"Do you expect me to tell the truth, or to take priorities in covering my ass?"
I ask, a bit ominous.

"Oh, cool!"
Crystal seems quite thrilled.

 

They laugh, then take off a mask, revealing Sapphire.
"They expect you to tell the truth. I know it's really the latter." She whispers before her mask goes back on.
"The truth, of course. You saw the gauntlet; do you really want to run through that? So, let's start on day one."

Linoa chuckles.
"You are somewhat shaped like a prism."

 

"Day one, I'm here, I'm supposed to form a report on a castle. I don't get told where it is, so I ask the nearest being, and to get the info, they wanted armor. I gave them the armor, they gave me the info. Now, I'm here, and report on various things. Happy?"
I fold my arms.

"People are shaped like prisms?"

 

Sapphire writes it down.
"Day two?"

"No, parts of you are. Thus, parts of your body just kind of act as prisms and then rainbows."

 

"Gathering report-worthy information. This goes on, and on, and on, so you can write that down for the rest."
I explain.

"Oh. Huh."

 

"No actual progress yet? Because it seems to be otherwise out there."

"Also, you're covered in runes so you definitely hardly look human." Linoa points out.

 

"I've made progress, but what they do on a daily basis is their business. If you want to know, you'll get more info by asking them."

"I guess so."
Crystal agrees.

 

"Perhaps they found something of interest?" I say, reopening the telepathic line.
"What were you about to say?"

 

"U-um... we already learned from the local how to reinforce the crevasse walls. We'd need a few more things from home, but we can make this work. The only run-in we had was with a demon that ended up chasing some of us off as we went to search some house that belongs to a fanatic sorceress."

"They can't talk. What did you use to communicate?"

"Humans aren't covered in 3d tattoos. You literally look like a runic golem like that, regardless of how you shapeshift."

 

"Talking. I talked with them."
I say, a bit blunt.

"I'm pretty sure I look like a rock no matter how I shift anyways."

 

"Don't be insane, those savages can't talk."

"Well... that too."

 

"Alright. The project will not be canceled. I will be there momentarily to deal with the demon." I say, ending the link and opening a new one to my second in command.
