"Buildings, engineers, defence and Abigail's torture I can do easily," I say, "Robotics and arcane advancements I can't do, especially considering the fact that there was a large cross-realm war in recent history which robotics and magic technology was used to fight with."

"The one before me huh. That means only my dad could of been but your grandma was a friend of my dad and very close at that. Then that only leaves one kitsune. Kotori...."

 

"Your current capabilities may suffice as a replacement toll."

"What are you going on about! Let's gooo!" Anne complains, walking towards the river.

 

"I can give you technology and arcane ability up to a cap, though some information is kept confidential in private groups to most of the palace and realm. I cannot give away such things so easily." I say calmly.

 

Classified under what categories?" He asks, intrigued.

 

"Top secret research. Advancements planned and created as a safety net should another war break out." I say.

 

"Any thing related to the warmech you're rumored to have?"

 

"I can neither confirm nor deny." I say.

"If it would be worth anything to our deal, I should be able to resurrect the Anubis Katie killed." Artemis says, glancing at me.

 

"That would make matters worse."
Pause.
"If you aren't willing to give us anything classified, then I request the classified knowledge be replaced by on-call service from your warmech. The Hive Master's delegate called them Eve, if I remember correctly."

 

"Perhaps I should explain better." I say, "Had everyone gone into the village center, I would've properly explained that the Hydra and I signed a contract leasing this village to me so that I can make it produce more money to sate his greed."

 

"Even if I were to have a 'warmech', what kind of on-call service would you want? Some kind of full-time servant job?" I ask.

 

"Alright then after we cross it we'll be halfway there."
They began to cross the river and after many minutes they finally reach the other side.

 

"Aid, should we need it. Mostly for defense once we figure out how to set up on the surface."

"Halfway? There's an ocean between us and the island..." Anne says.

"The hydra was satisfied until you came here." They sighs.

 

"I shall send you some of my army to help defend you, should you need it," I say, "Investing time and research into a warmech to defend you seems rather wasteful when small army could accomplish the same."

 

"My people won't tolerate shadows roaming around here. How many guardians do you command?"

 

"A large enough portion to send some to help defend you, however I have much less rule over them." I say.

 

"Now, since I know how much you love considering going against your word, this agreement will be signed with a soul link. If either of us break it, Virei'tus himself will desecrate the perpetrator."

 

"Ok." I say, shrugging like it's nothing major.

 

Virei'tus appears and holds a hand out to you and the Anubi.
"Take my hand and you agree to the terms." He says. "Under one condition."

Tenebrae feels a telepathic link reach out to her.
"Alternate Goddess of Darkness, Tenebrae? I am reaching out to you to notify you that one of your children is possible to sign a contract that, should he violate it, may bring slight harm to you."

 

"In what way?" Tenebrae asks, suspicious.
