Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Hello. I'm guessing you're the mayor?" Artemis asks.

 

"Yes, and you're Artemis and Aj. We all know you by now. What do you want?" They ask cautiously.

 

"We were hoping we could sort out some kind of deal for an artefact you own." I ask nervously.

"Though I'd like to say we're both very sorry for the events that happened in the café. None of us intended for anyone to get hurt, and misconceptions only made the situation worse." Artemis says apologetically.

 

"I'll negotiate under one condition and one condition only; you get Abigail to serve her sentence."

 

"I've been trying my hardest to find her and bring her to justice, though she seems to have disappeared entirely. A friend said she spoke to her when she went to retrieve something Abigail had from her house, though when I sent my scout groups there, they couldn't find a trace of her." I say honestly.

 

They shrug.
"Well, then you'll have to fight an uphill battle of negotiations. If you'd like, you can come back into my office and we can start negotiating."

 

I glance at Artemis, and she nods.

"Alright, let's negotiate." I say.

 

The mayor heads down a back hall and holds a door open for you and Artemis, a massive list of proposed demands pasted along the walls.
"As you can see, my people... are not particularly happy with you."

 

Artemis and I head through the door, and I start reading through the demands.

 

Many of these things are harsh; spiritual punishments for serial killers or the brutal sentence they have for the one they accuse of slaying their goddes - death by a 'thousand cuts,' along with taking their belongings and desecration of any companions.

The mayor enters and sits down.
"So... what do you think would be a fair exchange for the only remaining link to our fallen goddess?"

 

"Ooh, these look fun!" I say happily, looking for any more murder demands, "Can I kill the serial killers, torture the godslayer to death and murder their companions?"

"Who is your goddess?" Artemis asks, curious.

 

"Eviala, goddess of life. Lands, seas, and skies, her grace brought prosperity to us all... until some dark figures took her." They sighs.

"...and no. Desecration does not involve taking the life, it involves destroying the soul and leaving the body vacant."

 

"That sounds like Gaia, from my world." Artemis says, glancing at me.

I gasp, my eyes lighting up, "Who else do you want dead?" I ask joyfully.

 

"Currently, the list includes Abigail and a few other detainees who I am NOT letting you touch." The mayor says bluntly. "Now, get your head out of the dungeon and propose an initial offer. What would you give for the artifact?"

 

"What do you want or need?" I ask, calming down.

 

"I need you to offer something, or we won't have any points of comparison in terms of value."

 

"I don't know what to offer you, so if you say, need something built or help with something, I can offer services there, for example." I say, shrugging.

 

The mayor nods, jotting something down.
"My initial offer is that if ou provide us with technologies to build surface buildings, provide engineers, and provide defense of our lands should we need it for the next seventy years, along with provided proof Abigail will have been tortured upon capture, despite being your friend." He says. "Any robotics or arcane advancements will be shared, and you will return that artifact at the end of the fifteenth year."

 

"Well, why didn't you say so, No-Name?" I say, somewhat miffed.
"I asked for your name and occupation, did I not?"

 

"Because I do not appreciate hostile transfers of power."
