Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Alright then, let's continue." Myria says, glancing at the Earth Guardian.

The Earth Guardian creates a small opening in the wall next to him, big enough to fit himself, Myria and Xephyr, however. He steps inside, motioning Myria and Xephyr to follow, and Myria enters.

 

Xephyr keeps following, obviously having problems getting her mind off her end.

 

The Earth Guardian takes the pair to the surface of the mountain range, opening a doorway for them to step out of. Myria grows another large flower a short distance away, walking toward it.

"I probably won't be able to get you back from here before your time comes, though I feel as if it is somewhere you'll be at peace." Myria says calmly, smiling kindly at Xephyr.

 

Shaken, Xephyr nods.
"I... suppose that's the most I could ask for."
Pause.
"Thank you, so much... this meant a lot." She sighs.

 

"It's been a pleasure to make your final days as you've wished them," Myria says as she steps onto the flower, "There's nothing to fear about death. I have died before, as I'm sure you know, and being dead is not as scary as it may seem."

 

Xephyr, still nervous, nods.

 

Once Xephyr steps onto the flower, Myria closes it around the pair, and Xephyr can feel it sinking into the earth again.

What feels like a couple of hours later, the flower re-emerges in front of a massive, icy palace, a pair of polar guardians waiting outside it's gates, standing guard.

"Here we are, the palace of the water guardian royalty." Myria says as the flower opens, growing an icy blue, frosted looking fruit which she quickly eats.

 

Xephyr glances around, in awe.
"I have to hand it to you... t-this feels just like where I was born." She utters.

 

"I thought you might like it." Myria says happily, stepping out onto the soft snow, beginning to walk toward the palace gates though staying beside Xephyr as she walks.

 

Xephyr keeps following, seeming to quickly return to perfect health as she walks, albeit with closed eyes. That said, it doesn't seem to affect her.

 

The guards create spikes along the gate as the pair approach.

"State your business." One of the guards says, serious.

"I am Myria Vitae, the death guardian, married to Darnth Vitae and mother of Artemis Vitae. I have come to see the royalty of the water guardians as a final gift to my friend here, Xephyr, who is due to die soon."

"Hm, very well. You may enter." The guard says, removing the spikes and opening the gates for the pair.

Myria walks through the gates, smiling kindly at Xephyr.

 

Xephyr opens her eyes again, smiling at Myria briefly as she follows.

 

Myria heads into the icy palace, immediately heading toward the throne room. Various polar and water guardians skate about in the palace, seeming busy with their own jobs.

"Considering how much time we have left, I was hoping we could visit somewhere special here I'm sure you'll enjoy." Myria says, smiling.

 

"Sure." Xephyr says, skating along over walking.

 

Myria heads up to the doors of the throne room.

"I seek audience with the royalty to gain permission to visit the observatory of the palace." Myria explains to one of the guards.

"Hm...very well." The guard says, opening the doors to the throne room.

Inside, two polar guardians dressed in regal, yet ice-themed clothing sit upon two intricate icy thrones, light reflecting from both the thrones and their clothing. Crowns rest upon their heads, and their skin seems to have an icy layer to it, runes just slightly visible on the backs of their hands.

"Greetings, death guardian. It is rare to see one of your kind in these frozen lands." The queen says, smiling.

"What brings you to our palace?" The king asks.

"My friend, Xephyr, is due to die soon. She, like you and your kind, has an affinity with ice, and I was hoping she may be able to see the observatory before her time comes." Myria says.

"Certainly, we'd be honoured to show her the gift our location has given us before she is due to die." The queen says happily.

"We shall have one of our servants guide you to the observatory. I suggest you make haste, however. You don't want to miss the start." The king says calmly.

"Thank you, your highnesses." Myria says, bowing.

The queen calls a guard over, talking to them for a bit before they leave, coming back with a water guardian who walks over to Xephyr.

"Hello, ma'am. I've been instructed to take you to the palace's observatory, please follow me." The water guardian says, smiling.

 

Xephyr nods, skating off after the servant.

Where she stood remains a small, icy box.

 

"Xephyr, you dropped something!" Myria calls, following Xephyr.

 

"I figure I owe a... more successful frost queen a gift out of respect. She should find it most useful." Xephyr calls back.

 

Upon hearing this, the queen gets up from her throne, deciding to walk over to the box and picking it up.


The servant leads Xephyr and Myria through the hallways of the palace, eventually coming to a spiralling staircase he walks up. There are icy windows periodically placed up the staircase, and it seems to be getting darker outside.

 

It seems to be a frost covered, midnight black claw. There's a note attached on the outside of the box.
"In two times of dire need, draw blood and your foes will vanish from history."


Xephyr stops skating, taking interest in looking out the windows.
