What Causes The Decay In Gavel

Idk about worm, but influence means that the dark and light don't fight directly; they influence out lands from afar. Think as if this were the Cold War; and the dark and light are US and USSR, and we're Vietnamese/Korean/Other proxy

 

Alright, that analogy helps a lot... Hmmm... So about 1000 years ago the realms went to war, dark and light. Where they meet (supposedly Wynn) is where the corruption Occurs... The decay in gavel occured at the same time. We know that the worm is the cause of the decay. The worm is either related or unrelated, and just coincidental timing. It's more likely that it has to do with the realms war beginning... I really want to know what that worm is and where the hell it came from..

 

The war has probably been going on forever, but has only just ramped up. We know the worm:

• Caused the initial manifestation of the decay in gavel.
• Appeared 1000 years ago

 

I agree with the facts you said abotu the worm, but... I feel like the Realms war actually did begin 1000 years ago... Just my opinion, based on Aldorei's Secret Part II, because it says "The portal, which opened 1000 years ago, about the same time Gavel began to decay. A clash of the realms of Light and Darkness"...

It also says "But still it was not the end of the world. That is, until a thousand years ago. Something happened between the realms and to this day we are unsure what caused it"...

If the "decades" that Heliorion says in The Realm of Light quest is actually supposed to be centuries, I would guess this would be the invasion of the parasite that corrupted orphion, but otherwise I think it would have to be the beginning of the realms war.

Haha... Honestly not much... We keep going back to the sequence of events of it all... NPCGrian was also talking about the realms war with me, whether or not it started 1000 years ago with the decay and the corruption as Aldorei's Secret Part II would suggest, or if maybe the war has ALWAYS been going on, but just got worse in the last 1000 years.. We are also still pondering on which came first. The breaking in of the parasite that corrupted orphion and the other parasites in the realm of light, or the worm that is shown in Taproot, which is known to have started the decay. And what the worm actually is, and where it came from.

 

You know, for such lore heavy quests, we learned little big picture stuff

 

Yeah... it always leaves out those little details that seem unimportant to most, but actually make a huge difference.

I havn't done ANY dungeons... Lol, I'll probs do some of the ones that could have lore when they come out

 

I don't get how the decay/corruption started 1000 years ago if it seems that the villagers are innately greedy. If that is the case, then why hasn't the Realm of Light/Gavel ALWAYS been decaying? Plus, why is the decay soley caused by the greed of the villagers, and not other species? The Dwarves seem just as if not more greedy, especially since they almost wiped out an entire race just for land.

 

Portals opened 1000 years ago, which is when the corruption started in Wynn and the Decay in Gavel. Either the war was going on before that, or started then. I still don't know about the worm

 

Yes. A quest, I forget which one, told us that the war was going on, and this world is being used as a battle field. Also, I think that the worm might be the parasite, seeing as Orion is the light peoples god, so it can't just be any random evil creature coming from a corrupt seed.

 

The villagers are the main inhabitants of Gavel... Also, the villagers have most likely been becoming more and more greedy as their economy develops. Also as said earlier, once the light war started and the decay in Wynn broke out and eventually the villagers venture there and get the emeralds from the area around the portal, which makes the even MORE greedy. It's a slippery slope.

Careful how you refer to Orion. The way I understand it, each realm has a "beast" that is basically an embodiment of the energy. In theory the Nether has CoW, the realm of darkness has The Eye, and the realm of light has Orion. It's not a god, but a powerful being of light

 

Okay, reading this I cringed... First of all, the quest Taproot is the quest that talks about our world being used as a battlefield. It does not say how long the war has been going on, or anything close to that, just that the decay began due to a worm that appeared in the forest 1000 years ago... 2nd, ORPHION is not a god, he is the light beast, who physically represents the realm of light. The parasite that corrupts Orphion broke into the realm of light "decades ago" according to the quest The Realm of Light, meaning it was most likely within the last 100 years... Some, like myself, suspect that the "decades" part should actually be "centuries" but wasn't adjusted as the timeline changed...
