What Causes The Decay In Gavel

Here is how I understand it:

So something layed these seeds in the realm of light, some thing. These seeds created the sucorru parasites, and the light beast, orphion, got infected either by the parasites or by what layed the seeds. Anyway, these seeds were Corruption, Darkness, Decay, and Desolation. Corruption, Decay, and Desolation you kill before they hatch, but Darkness had already hatched, and you fight the thing that came out. We already know all of those things except Desolation, which has driven me partially insane several times trying to figure it out. The worm thing I have no clue. It could be something that hatched from the Decay seed, then the seed reformed. It could be a parasite. It could be the thing that layed the seeds. IDK

 

I feel like it is too, but again that would make no sense unless the "decades" part of The Realm of Light is actually a typo since the original start of corruption was 100 years ago, but changed to 1000, as @Gigavern stated. Can someone tag a GM and confirm whether or not this is supposed to be decades and not centuries? I would, but I don't know any...

I'm on the fence as to the meanings of the name of the seeds. There are two real possibilities. These are that the names of the seeds are just examples, and don't actually have a connection to the lore, or they do have connection. If the second one is the case, then I think it may be safe to assume that they are associated with provinces... Wynn represents corruption, Gavel represents decay, at the moment, and Desolation could be... Dern? If I recall correctly, on one of your threads Grian said that the villagers do not consider Dern to be a province, but we should. If this is the case, I don't want to imagine how dark Dern would be in reality...

Also the "thing" that broke into the realm of light, most likely planted by the darkness was what corrupted Orphion. That same parasite created more seeds, or the parasites themselves, which create seeds. The original parasite must have been much more powerful than the Sucorru parasites though if it was able to corrupt the one and only light beast.

 

I've seen the seeds representing the issues on the provinces for a while

Corruption: Wynn
Decay: Gavel
Desolation: Fruma
Darkness: Dern

 

The decay was very slow, preharps gavels been decaying for 1000 years but only has gotten to the point where decades ago it physically affected the light realm. It is a parasite and it took time to spread throughout gavel.

Another point is that gavel and the light realm, though connected, are two separate worlds. Gavel, as I said again, took longer to decay and was the first to decay, the events in the light realm are new developments in the decay's process.

I agree with the 2nd paragraph, but not the first. I don't think Desolation first Dern when every other clue leads to Darkness, which is another seed name

Who named the seeds...

 

Mmm... I hadn't thought about it like that... Well based on Taproot we know that some worm creature started the decay... Question is did this worm creature come from the realm of light, or did it come from somewhere else and eventually SPREAD to the realm of light. Could the worm we see be the creature that corrupted Orphion? Or one like it?

I think darkness and desolation should be flipped... My bad I didn't properly understand the definition of desolation. According to google, desolation means: anguished misery or loneliness...

Based on what we know of Fruma's monarchy, oppression of magic, and the other bad things we've heard from citizens and whatnot, it'd make most sense if Darkness was Dern, and Desolation Fruma, due to how the people of Fruma are treated.

Also... If the names of the seeds do represent the provinces Wynn, Gavel, Dern, and Fruma, what do these actual representations mean? Like those are their names, but what is the purpose of them being named that way? The Realm of light draws power from the goodness in our world... Could places that are very corrupted in the realm of light PHYSICALLY represent certain more... corrupted/worse off places in the actual world? Just an idea, I'm 99% sure it's wrong.

It was never said that orphions corruption caused the parasites. Let's put it this way

• 1000 years ago, something dark and unknown emerges in the present day dark forest, at the caritat mansion(taproot, mem para)
• The decay begins. According to Togak, there is a connection between the ROL and the moral purity of gavel. Although no one is sure EXACTLY what happened, the greed of the villagers cause the ROL to weaken, which is believed to have factored into the decay
• It is confirmed by togak that the decay started 1000 years ago, around the same time the ROC portal was uncovered, then released the corruption.
• Fast forwards over the centuries. Gavel and the ROL are weakening, due to the decay and parasites respectively. These phenomena are directly related.
• A few decades ago, the ROL weakens enough that something unknown enters it and begins to corrupt Orphion. This accelerates both processes in the ROL and gavel
• In the present day, things are going badly. Half of gavel is decayed, and the process is gaining on the Light. Strange monsters are ravaging the province. Molten heights has erupted; the sky islands have formed.
• In wynn, the fruman recruits are making progress against the corruption. Hopefully they can do the same in gavel.

 

ROL draws most of its power from gavel. So when the villagers became greedy, the drakness began to emegre in gavel. Fun little fact, emeralds mined from ROC where traded into gavel and made villagers greedier. Think about that.

The worm creature originated in gavel which is in a plane of existence that allows the drakness to interact easily with. The worm is most likely the same creature. That last question is that same thing shortened

 

If the decay occured before the creature broke into the R.O.L and corrupted Orphion, then what caused the corruption in Wynn 1000 years ago, and why are they so closely associated?

Corruption is caused, according to wynnex site d, when light and darkness touch on our plane of existence. The corruption starting at the same date as the decay has to do with the war of the realms, where the light and dark, from their own dimensions, fight for control in the overworld. When the light began to fade in Gavel, the conflict ramped up, causing corruption.

 

Mmm, Wynn Site D says that corruption is formed when Dark and Light touch through influence. What does it mean by influence? Also, if the corruption is do to the light war, how does the worm starting the decay correspond to it?
