General Questions From A New Guy

Quality Intro:
Aight so, I'm not as new as most but these are still some things that still confused me.

1. Concerning the elements, why is it "Thunder" and not "Lightning". Someone probably didn't know any better when creating it or it's just cheese people. Thunder is just the sound, and sound is pressurized air waves, so, wouldn't Thunder be the exact same as Air?
2. Why does the Hunter reskin of Archer shoot flint? It just looks dumb
3. Why are boats expensive?
4. What's even the point of towns like Relos, Dogovi and Elkurn? Yes, I know that Relos just came out in the Corkus update and probably has some stuff in store for it. Dogovi is just a lazy piece of lore and Elkurn is literally nothing except a quicker way of doing an early game quest.
5. Although the origin of name has been cleared up, does anyone else refuse to think that the Dernel Jungle has nothing to do with the realm of Dern? Like, look at Amadel.
6. Does anyone else think the transition between the Twain Lake and Nesaak Forest is ugly?
7. Why does Item Stealing even end up being a problem? Snakes.
8. How do I end a list of "questions" that just ends up being complete criticism of the server from a newbie?

Dogovi will be used when the questline for Molten heights is released, until then yeah it just kinda exists

 

You seem pretty informed for a newbie, considering you've heard of Dern (unless you mean forums newbie, dunno)

1. Thunder is an easier word to say/write and it sounds cooler?
2. The arrow shield reskin more than makes up for this.
3. To make people use the Seaskipper?
4. I don't know either, I just wish they weren't spawn points or at least had banks and tp scrolls. Funny story though... l
5. Dernel is an anagram of Needlr, a former composer for Wynncraft. It has nothing to do with Dern. Most other location names (other than provinces) are anagrams oft he names of CT members in fact.

You can use them infinitely (when you get out of the boat, it goes back into your inventory.)

The small towns like that help to make the large world feel less empty, even if there is nothing/very little to do in them.

1. Thunder insinuates lightning and storms, and the terms are generally (though incorrectly, that's true) interchangeable. It also provides a better aesthetic for most, I assume. Plus, not many people are that concerned about realistic accuracy in a fantasy RPG.
2. It's a re-done cosmetic element. As for looking dumb, you are entitled to your opinion.
3. To encourage use of the Sea-Skipper to get around, as when the prices were changed, it was a new feature that they wanted to highlight. It's much more effective anyway, and boats only result in glitches that the developers want to minimize.
4. Immersion. There's a much, much deeper discussion to go into on that subject, but for this thread, the word is enough.
5. They are not related. Amadel is not connected to Dern.
6. Another opinion. The reason it may look worse than other areas is because it's one section that hasn't been touched up in build re-works.
7. Are you answering your own question here? If not; it's a problem because it's robbery.

The other day, a person dropped a 40/40 White Horse, and I picked it up. For not one second did I consider keeping it. Gave it back almost instantly. Item thefts aren't the majority of the community, they are the minority.
