Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Once at the portal room, I land softly and kneel.

 

"Maybe something in the air?" Angela asks, shrugging.

 

"I doubt it, but maybe."

Ytir gets off and hesitates.
"Why are there four portals? Do they all go home?"

 

"They go to someone's home. The one dubbed Maralune leads to yours, remember?"

 

"Yeah, but I can't read."

 

"Oh, right, apologies. Follow me."
I say, entering the portal with the label of Maralune.

 

"The desert can affect peoples minds. Maybe they were affected by it?" Angela suggests.

 

Ytir follows as told.

"How so? It's not scalding hot down here."

 

Angela just shrugs, "I don't know." She says.

 

I step through, watching Ytir as he follows.

 

"At any rate, be careful out there."

He makes it through, and no other raptor seems to be nearby.
"Okay. Thanks. Let's get a different angle of approach so we don't lead the others here."

 

"Okay. You choose the direction, you know the area better."

 

"The people at the Shadow Palace seem to be nice enough." Angela says, trying to smile.

 

"Most of them do." Ali utters.

The raptor darts off to the side before making an indirect angle back to what seems to be a bit of a base camp.
He sticks his head into a tunnel.
"Is chief back yet?"
"Yeah. He was looking for you. Outer bramble."
"I'll be there in a moment."

 

I follow him silently, a bit farther away.

 

After a few minutes, you see the armored Aral'hrah.
"Ytir, where were you?"
"I went off with the mech. He showed me how humans make stuff for a bit. He also showed me a few of his friends, and they might help us a lot!"
"And what is he charging?"
"Uhm..."

 

Stephanie exits the back.

"I've cleaned up our dishes." Stephanie says, smiling.

 

"Thank you! You two travel safe."

 

"None, don't worry about it. I haven't even held up my deal with you yet."
I point out.

 

"We shall." Angela says.

"Do you think we still have a chance of getting the artefact we need?" Stephanie asks.
