Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Relax. First time with a bed, I can't blame you."

 

They hesitate, then smile.
"W-well... yeah, that was the most comfortable thing I've slept on in my life." They admit.

 

"Do you feel better than when you sleep on the ground for four hours?"
I inquire.

 

"Yeah, not even starting to feel sore!"

 

The pair show up soon after, the forest guardian looking rather sweaty.

 

The Anubi offers them a cup of water.
"Ali left a few bites on the counter. She's wiped."

 

The forest guardian takes, while the sand guardian seems fine.

"I heard she had a few problems with her cafe." The forest guardian says, drinking the water.

 

"There was a murder. Ali invited some Katie and her friends in during a storm. Katie ended up bashing a customer's skull in in front of everybody." The Anubis says, grabbing another glass for themselves.

 

"Geez. I heard Katie, the king's friend, got tortured for three days because of something like that." The sand guardian says, surprised.

 

"I didn't know that. We'll cut her sentence here, then."

 

"The Shadows are awfully...thorough, with their torture. Since they're not on Earth, I don't think I can do much, though. I only wonder what Gaia thinks." The forest guardian ponders, finishing his water.

 

"I've noticed. I was in the cafe at the time, and they talked about using weapons of mass destruction on us. Utterly disgusting... I can't belive they still try to get us to work with them." The Anubis grunts.

 

"A group was sent here not too long ago to repair this restaurant as a means of apology. The Shadows aren't as sinister as they seem." The sand guardian says.

"It wasn't so long ago they were asking our kind to work for them. For protection and money, we just had to work at the King of the Realm's palace, and we've been informed quite a bit we're free to leave at any time should we want to." The forest guardian says.

"Very few people leave early though. It's such a great work opportunity most don't leave for quite a few years, and even then, our work isn't hard. We mostly just work in our normal environments, so the difference between the Realm of Shadows and Earth is pretty minimal." The sand guardian says happily.

 

"There are two sides to every coin, it seems. I can only hope my people fall off the edge and onto their good side."

 

"I guess we should ask the question we're here for though," The forest guardian says, glancing at the sand guardian, "Did you find any traces of the Fire Guardian, Abigail?"

 

"Do you rule just the village or other places as well?"

 

"No, nothing. I take it you haven't either?"

"Just my swamp. Rest of this island isn't to my liking."

 

"It's almost as if she just stopped existing or something. The most we could find was when she entered the desert, but it just ends there." The sand guardian says.

 

"I haven't smelled her on the surface. Considering she reeks of sweat and ash, she's not here near the ground."

 

"I don't think she'd reek of sweat. Fire guardians generally don't sweat due to their resistance to high temperatures, and sweating is the body's way of cooling down when it's too hot." The forest guardian says.
