They pull back quickly.
"Uhm... t-thanks for healing her." The Anubis utters. "I-I thought she was lost too."

"That sounds easy enough for us to use... maybe you could show us how to make shelters, then?

 

"Consider it part of our apology to your people." Shadow Stephanie says, smiling.

 

They hesitate.
"Uhm... I-I'm sorry, but, I also wanted to say... l-law enforcement still wants Katie and A-abigail to serve their week and a half in jail..."

 

"Possibly, but I reccomend thinking about the advantages and disadvantages to having a home. Sure, you could store belongings, or be protected from weather, but a popular tactic amoungst warring parties is to destroy the others' homes. Which, are stationary, and can't move, and may or may not be flammable if we build them in your territory."
I explain.

 

"Oh, could you inform them that Katie was sentenced to seventy two hours of torture? Surely that covers it," Shadow Stephanie asks, "Though I'm not sure where Abigail is. She hasn't been seen anywhere around the palace, and the last place we saw her was in this desert. "

 

They hesitate.
"U-um, yes... p-please bring A-abigail in when you g-get the c-chance... I-I'll try to p-pardon Katie..."

"The Mantis have shelters, and they defend them as well as the human wall." The raptor points out. "Us raptors are the only ones without."

 

"There's logs of her torture if you need proof. I'll try my best to find Abigail and bring her to you though." Shadow Stephanie says with a smile.

"i dont like it when katie gets hurt..." Onyx says sadly.

 

"N-no... w-we all find that v-very believable..." They utter, heading to the door.
"U-um... good d-day..."
With a tap of their foot, they're gone.

 

"Hm."
I say, taking note.
"I could help you make basic tent-like homes, but not much else. And it might take a while to get to. But when it comes time, I'll help you, or I'll get someone that I trust can."

 

"Strange." Shadow Stephanie comments.

"they look like dogs, but theyre not mean!" Onyx says happily.

Shadow Stephanie re-opens her portal and heads through with Onyx.

 

They nod.
"Maybe just start with one? W-we're not used to being stationary..."

Seems there's nobody else coming to the Shadow Palace to nag Shadow Stephanie or Aj. Not today.

 

The Anubi notice a sand guardian and a forest guardian wandering around the desert, the forest guardian bearing a dark presence. They appear to be looking for someone.

 

"Alright, but I can't make it big enough to fit all of you, so we'll have to come up with something. Each should be big enough to let at least one live comfortably, though, bed and all."

 

Nervous, the Anubi continues on their way.

"We don't need one big shelter. Just, maybe one that blends into the brush to give chief a respite from the occasional windstorm."

 

"I'll have to see what I have to work with, then."

 

"Couldn't you ask the colossus for a few spare materials? She couldn't miss a few boards or two if she's this big..."

 

"Of course, but not every board blends with the brush of your world."

 

"I thought you could dye boards. We have a few dyes from the lowland flora."

 

"That could work. We'll get to it later, though, your boss won't even be back for a few days."

 

"Fair enough."
Pause.
"So, is there a primary race that serves your Matriarch?"
