Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"J-just one." She says, a bit terrified of your larger forms. "So... the Hive Master sent his people to knock me out and take my crystal that would open a portal here. I was wondering if you could get your soldiers to give chase and get it back?"

Nothing's stopping you.
"No problem. Let me know if it works out."

Muffy's still asleep, Linoa offering him a ride on her staff once again.

 

"You sure you don't want anything?"
I ask, taking the chestplate.

Crystal takes it, holding on to (and petting) Muffy.

 

"How did you get here, then? The crystal is designed to only last for one entry and one exit before it disintegrates." Shadow Stephanie asks, confused.

 

"I'm sure."

Linoa gets on, only stopping outside the training room to look for Rineth.

"My twin was one of his people he sent. I knocked her out and some cat girl let me in. I was hoping my twin had the crystal as well as the slab, but she didn't."

 

"Thanks, then. I'll be off."
I say, leaving.

Crystal looks as well.

 

Rineth's tail is visible outside the portal room.

He's not there.
"Hmm... maybe he went off with Thirteen?"

 

"Hey, Rineth."
I announce before seeing all of him, as I walk over.

"Maybe..."
Crystal says, a bit disappointed.

 

"Well, in order to make your request viable, there are a few security measures we need to make with a request of this size. It's very quick and simple stuff. Since the situation you're describing is of theft and mimicry, that is obviously a very real problem with these contracts. We just need to check a few things to validate," I explain, "We need to check your slab to make sure it isn't forged, we need to check you to make sure you're not somone using illusionary magic, we need to check your recent memories to make sure they line up, and we need to ask a few simple questions under a truth serum just to be safe. That sound alright?"

"If we gave out our services to anyone holding a slab, we'd be made fools of." Shadow Stephanie adds.

 

"Got the armor?" He asks, not leaving the room.

"Should we look for them or just do this with you and me?"

"I-I mean... sure. I didn't know t-things were that tight here."

 

"Yeah."
I say, holding it behind me as I enter the room, looking in his direction.

"No one else can help us?"

 

He's halfway through the portal.

"I'm kind of the only trainer in today. It's a holiday."

 

"You okay?"

"Oh, okay."
Crystal says, jumping off the staff.

 

"You're asking us personally for things, we can't afford to leave it up to trust." Shadow Stephanie says.

A pair of guards walk over to Ali, one taking her slab and the other using a crystal to scan over her. The crystal surrounds Ali in a faint light, melting any illusionary or disguise magic.

 

"One sec."
You hear a yelp before Rineth goes all the way through.
"Sorry. Challenger."

"So, look or do it with just me?"

 

"What'd they look like?"

"Just you is fine."

 

"Makes sense. I d-didn't know how contracts worked until n-now."
There is no illusions, disguises, or any traces of recent memory adjustments.
The slab is also the real deal, still having a trace of Shadow Stephanie holding it.

"Thankfully not a raptor. More like a hellhound."

"Alright. Let's go, then..." Linoa says, heading over to an arena and getting the healer ready to set up the dome.

 

"Only one?"
I ask, seemingly worried.

Crystal runs into the arena, excited.

 

I fly towards the voices.

 

"Everything checks out so far." The guard reports. Another guard brings over a white crystal helmet, a pair of much larger guards placing a large white crystal screen. The guards put the helmet on Ali, the helmet itself tapping into Ali's recent memories and displaying them on the screen. The helmet plays Ali's memories in reverse, from when the helmet was put on, and Shadow Stephanie and I watch the screen intently.

 

"Only one."

Linoa seems a bit tense, but ready.
"Ready to go?" She asks.

They seem to just vanish. Perhaps you're just hearing things?

It goes from shadow palace entry, meeting Onyx, following her in with her twin sister, but her branching off and asking a guard how to get to the throne room, displaying the box.

Before that, and as the memory reader ends, Ali is woken up by intruders, and knocks her sister out with a pot befote driving the draconian with her back out of her cafe, though the crystal is visibly swiped from her KO'd sister by the draconian.
