Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Hm. Do you mind if I make my own drink?" I ask.

Stephanie reads through the coffees available, while Shadow Stephanie looks at the sandwiches.

"Could I have a cheese and tomato sandwich in white bread, please?" Katie asks.

"I'll have a lettuce and tomato sandwich in wheat bread, if possible." Artemis says.

 

"Depends. What is it?"

There's no list. Just coffee, desert bean blend, and cream/no cream and sugar/no sugar.

"Got it."

 

"Uh...orange juice." I say.

"Would it be possible to get a desert bean blend coffee with cream and sugar?" Stephanie asks.

"I'll have a lettuce and cheese sandwich on your desert grain bread, please." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Yes and yes, but I can't offer OJ on the house, and Katie's the only one with any money." The waitress says.

 

A bit dazed, Crystal respondes.
"Okay. Yeah, okay."

 

"I have my own oranges and glass, it's cool." I say, summoning a tall glass.

 

"You did well." Rineth compliments.

"Alright, then, I'll leave that to you. I'll be right back." She says, slinking off again.

 

"Thanks."
Crystal says, still a bit shaken.
"Yeah, you did! Fight like that, and it's not going to be easy to kill you, that's for sure."
I encourage, seemingly have watched the fight.
"Oh, hey Thirteen!"
Crystal says, a bit more happy.

 

I summon a juicy looking orange heart in my hand, poking a small hole in it and squeezing it's orange coloured blood into my tall glass, the heart managing to just about fill it to the top before it runs out of blood. I eat the orange heart to dispose of the evidence, while sipping the blood from my glass.

"Sneaky." Shadow Stephanie compliments.

 

"You'll do well." Linoa compliments.

"Not as sneaky as you'd like it to be. Orange blood is not orange juice." The waitress says, handing everyone else out their food and drink.
They're smaller than normal portions, but free food is free food.

 

"Are we gonna work with runes now?"
Crystal asks.

 

"It is the juice of the heart, and it is orange. Orange juice." I say, smirking.

Stephanie quietly sips her coffee, looking around as Katie and Artemis bite into their sandwiches.

 

"It is blood and none of us care for your semipoetic workaround." The waitress sighs, returning to the kitchen and audibly hurling.

The sandwiches taste about as you'd expect, but the desert grain bread seems to have an interesting texture; somewhat grainy at first, but it quickly melts in Shadow Stephanie's mouth.

Stephanie's coffee feels a bit thicker than usual, but it has more flavor to back it up.

"You just go to Emerald for that when you're ready."

 

"People these days..." I mutter, sipping my blood.

"Whoa, thish stuffsh good!" Shadow Stephanie says happily, savouring her sandwich.

Stephanie quite enjoys the thickness of the coffee, leaning back in her chair and smiling calmly.

 

"I'm not going to be working with you on it?"
Crystal asks, sounding disappointed.

 

The waitress comes back and retrieves the menus, going around to other tables before coming back to Katie.
"I was kinda surprised to see you without Lin." She says.

"No, I could accidentally hurt you if I did it. Enerald's the best, and when your life depends on it, you damn well better have the best."

 

"She's left us. She didn't want to be around anymore." Katie says sadly.

 

"Ah, that's too bad. What happened?" She asks, concerned. "If she found you went here without her, she'd throw a fit!"

 

"They don't work in the dome thingies?"
Crystal asks, completely forgetting the name by now.

 

"I think some stuff happened with her and Abigail. I'm not entirely sure what, but she seemed like she just didn't want to stick around us anymore because of it." Katie admits.
