Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The Cornae pauses.
"We've kind of lost count."

Muffy purrs, ceasing her rolling.

 

Outer space appears to be rather barren, a satellite knocking into Sivius as he lauches into it. There don't seem to be any traces of Ragnyon's path, though Sivius can detect an odd presence nearby.


Abigail seems a little confused, before heading into the lab.

"I'm ready for my examination." Abigail says happily, hands on her hips.

 

"How long do you lot live, on average?"

"You're a weird little cat, do you know that?"
Crystal asks, continuing to pet Muffy.

 

Sivius seeks out the presence after making sure he didn't knock the satellite doesn't plummet down onto the planet.


The scientists turn, then half of them faint.
"Just... sit down over here." One says, clearly nervous as he pulls up a holographic image of Abigail up.

"We're semi-ageless. I think our former Supreme Warlock had lived two millennia before she was assassinated."

Muffy looks up at Crystal, not too thrilled with the comment, but goes back to laying down soon after.

 

"The sacrifices are a mix of volunteers, people with incurable diseases, and levies from the poorest parts of Perniciosa."

 

"Semi-ageless?"

"What can you do? You seem like a cat that can do a lot."

 

"Neither of us like it when someone keeps hiding something, and I still have a hunch there's something more you'll ask of me."

"We have greatly extended lifespans, but we're not ageless. Similar to dragons."

Muffy uses her tongue to grapple onto Crystal's face, holding on as she tries to crawl up on his shoulder.

 

"Yes, and that is to submit your research to our library."

 

"Perchance your General has expanded most of her time."

"Ghuh..."
Crystal says uncomfortably, shifting his eyes away from Muffy's path.

 

"All of it, or only what progress I make with your aid?"

"Maybe... I doubt it, though. She's not too much older than most of the others."

Muffy ends up slipping, landing in a puff of dirt after hissing as she falls.

 

"All of it, as much as possible."

 

"Then I decline."

 

The satellite seems to adjust it's path with small boosters, remaining in orbit.

After a bit of searching, Sivius can see what looks like an air guardian gliding through space, oddly. However, compared to other air guardians he's seen, this one appears to have much smaller wings, and their hair looks copper coloured compared to silver.


Abigail blushes, flattered as walks over to and sits down in the chair, placing her hands in her lap and smiling.

 

"Some live shorter than others. I'm simply bringing it up because I've heard cases of memory loss of old beings, as well as stubbornness against the idea of someone holding their hand through death."

Crystal knees towards Muffy, his eyes regaining place.
"Sorry... are you okay?"

 

He continues looking for Ragnyon's path, though he approaches the air guardian.
"Excuse me, but do you know if a colossal dragon has passed through within the year?"


"We're going to anesthetize you, and you'll be done in four hours. Understand?"

"That could be the case, since none of us know her true age."

"Mrow."
She starts purring, rolling around in the dirt again.

 

"Just spitting ideas."
I shrug.

"Do you like water?"
Crystal asks, curious?

 

"Better than inaction, if you ask me." He sighs.

"Mrow?"
Muffy's emotions are a bit hard to read. She sounds something between affirmative and confused.

 

I shake my head in disappointment.
"Very well. Farewell, Miss Mera." I say, flying back to the ruins.

 

"Do you think they know their age?"

"This stuff."
Crystal says, spraying a bit of water out of his fingertips, beside Muffy.

 

"Come back if you think of a better offer!" She calls out after you.

"Doubt it."

Muffy starts drinking the muddy water after hesitating.
