Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Sivius immediately launches himself into high orbit, looking for traces of Ragnyon's path on the way out to space, eyes glowing twilight as an odd distortion keeps him alive in the less than life-supporting conditions.


"U-um... sit on the seat to the right of the entry. You'll be anesthetized and then you'll be done." They say. "T-thank god I'm done for the day..."
They run off afterwards.

The switch is pretty noticeable.
"No, just to prevent the starmap from resetting when we were bombarded. Before it, we had to hope that our shields didn't take too much damage before we could get the navigator plugged back in and jump out. It's a shame we lost that ship... Almost felt like home. Now we're just stuck in caves." She sighs.

"Oh? What for?"

 

"Hm."
I just say, flipping the switch.

"I was hoping I could learn some stuff!"
Crystal says enthusiastically.

 

He steps out of the lock, the starmap doing dormant.
"Thanks."

"Oh, of course! Might I suggest what you focus on next? I don't mean to be rude, but it may be the best thing for you to focus on in battle." Linoa says, walking towards another arena.

 

OOC: Wait, it is a 'she' or 'he'? You've called them both.

"No problem. Do you need help getting down?"

"You're the trainer."
Crystal allows, following.

 

OOC: I'm sorry, he.

"I'll be fine. The thought's appreciated, though."

"Here's my thought; you and Thirteen seem to worry that everyone else is on a whole other level than you sometimes. Bringing you all the way up to their level would be tough and take years we don't have - but what if you could make your foes come down to your level, making things easier on your allies?" Linoa offers.

 

"Alright."
I jump off, using my boost to make sure I don't break my legs upon fall.

"Like... an anti-support magic?"

 

He seems to slow his fall with lightly bent gravity, affecting you slightly.

"Indirectly, yes. You're essentially a big, living rock, right? If we can teach you how to defend yourself, you can become a diversion. Etch a runic null-magic spell onto your body, and force your foes to devote significant resources to try and take you out." Linoa says. "Now, I understand that nobody's big into being a meat shield, so we would first add a null-teleport and null-bolt rune on you so anyone that wants to get you out of their hair has to come do it up close and personal. Then, since you're big enough, we can make it so the null-magics only affect our foes, not us." She explains. "You split up the front lines for the main group, and, if you keep getting better at using your spear, might even keep them busy long enough for your friends to regroup or get a few kills."

 

"Where'd you learn that?"
I ask, curious.

"So, what about all that are we gonna work on?"

 

"It's ancient Cornae magic. My casts are weak since I've never really had to use them, but the general probably could help you learn. Maybe. She's been a bit out of it lately, as if something's ailing her."

"Defending yourself against more than one opponent. You don't need to land a blow, you just need to keep them busy. The more and the longer you occupy an opponent, the more stress you relieve from your allies."

 

"Emphasis on maybe. Never tried to learn magic, and maybe gravitational ancient Cornae magic isn't the best place to start."
I admit, making way to the portal room.

"...Don't you need more than just you and me, then?"
Crystal asks, confused.

 

"Fair point." He agrees, trailing you.

"I figured Muffy could join us!" Linoa says happily, the Chameleat in question dozing off on her staff.

 

"So, what do you lot do in the tundra?"
I ask as we walk.

"How?"
Crystal asks, evermore puzzled.

 

"Mostly bide our time and hope Sivius led our foe far enough astray. We're strictly subsistence, to minimize our presence."

"Muffy?" Linoa asks, Muffy perking up.
"Fireball."
Muffy coughs out a ball of magma, the splash being quickly contained by a panicked Linoa.
"That's not a fireball, damnit..."
"Mrow."
"Maybe I should go get a few others."
"Mrow."

 

"And if your foe finds you?"

"Yeah, maybe."
Crystal agrees, lightening up and smiling by Muffy's show.

 

"We stand no chance until the Supreme Warlock returns."

"I'll be back..." Linoa says, hurrying off.
Muffy uses her tongue to grapple onto Crystal and starts purring, though she seems to be shedding dirt as long as she remains in contact with Crystal.
"Mrow."

 

"Do they have a name?"

"Don't get the place dirty, you."
Crystal says, trying to get Muffy into his arms while attempting to catch some on the dirt by shifting.

 

"Yes. Ingravitus Delta, Supreme Warlock of the Cornae is their full title. Everyone except those who knew him personally called him Supreme Warlock. However, as of late, the General seems to be referring to him by the wrong gender."

"Mrah!" She protests, the dirt she sheds easy to catch.

 

"So your assumption that the General might be sick isn't far off."

"I'm sorry. Do you want to be let down?"
Crystal asks, still holding Muffy.

 

"She refuses to go to the healers, too. It's... concerning, to say the least." He sighs.

Muffy starts rolling around in Crystal's arms, and by relation, in the dirt. She seems content.

 

"How old is she?"

With a little butt of shifting, Crystal starts to scratch Muffy's head.
