"No, but I knew you'd find an alternative way to contact me. From what I've seen, I believe you are truly who you say you are, and your message is honest." Tenebrae says praisingly.

 

Sivius sits silent for a moment.
"I have yet to complete the task, even by my reduced terms. I have yet to do what I say; why trust me? I have not earned it... yet. I still must reach the remote lab, which is impossible lest I meet up with the physical body of you or your brethren."

 

Noticing, I jump and boost myself up to them, confronting them.

Crystal immediately shifts into a wolf and runs off to the training room.

 

"Because I do not sense any evil intention within you. From the actions I have seen, you are worthy of my trust. Do not abuse it, though." Tenebrae says, "The goddess of magic's islands are not impossible to reach. A few humans were able to visit there, long ago, so I don't doubt it is possible to reach her islands if you search hard enough."

 

They seem to be asleep, still plugged into the starmap.

The training room is pretty quiet. There are only a handful of draconians there.

"I can make no promises beyond those I have. I will do my best to make good on it, though."
He pauses.
"Has a draconian been to her islands within the century? I may have my work cut out for me if so."

 

I walk up to them, softly hitting them on the cheek.

Crystal looks around to see if there's anyone he knows.

 

"Yes, and I accompanied her. I believe her name was Ragnyon." Tenebrae says.

 

"Thank you. If you would be so kind as to let the goddess know I will arrive soon, I would greatly appreciate it."

They wake with a start, scowling.
"You're... freaking... made of metal!" They groan.

Linoa's watching a duel between two other staff users.

 

"I shall try my best." Tenebrae says, before the connection is cut. Sivius finds himself in complete darkness, before the dim light of the room around him becomes visible, Shadow Stephanie smiling as she sees Sivius.

 

"And you're in Xelentia's palace."
I say, not too loudly.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go home."

Crystal trots over, watching as well, not caring to change back.

 

"It went well." He says, standing up. "I have to go take one more trip, though. I'll try to stop wandering as much once I'm done with this one."

"That would be ideal."

Linoa reaches down and pets Crystal.
"What's with you and wolves?" She asks offhandedly.

 

"Stay safe out there, I love you." Shadow Stephanie says, hugging Sivius.

 

He hugs her back.
"I love you too, Steph."

Upon release, he heads towards the portal room, cutting to the chase as per usual.

 

"Then unplug yourself from that thing and tell me if you need help getting down."

As usual, he feels like smooth, cold, stone.
"Huh?"
Crystal seems confused, then realizes that he's still a wolf.
"Oh, right. It's faster for running."
He says, changing back.

 

"I literally can't just unplug myself. There's a release on the other side of the table I can't reach."

"There are faster animals, though. Do you just not know of any?"

 

The portal room's terminal seems to have commands relating to Xlentia's palace, but the portal remains inactive and terminal ready for new input.


Abigail heads through the hallway just outside the library, still in her bikini, looking for the scientist's lab.

 

I go to the other side of the table, looking around.
"Where, exactly?"

"Just because I am the animal doesn't mean I get their parts or anything. Four legs work better than two, and I can't fly, so it works for me. Maybe getting to know more could help, I'm not really sure."

 

Sivius puts in commands to bring him back to Earth, already seeming somewhat distracted.

She finds it as a result of a scientist leaving for the end of their shift.
"G-gah... Abigail, w-what a surprise... Are you here for analysis?" They ask, looking almost terrorized.

"Bottom of the table. There should be a switch that works as a lock."

"Oh. Makes sense. As always, I'd hit the library if you want to fix that."

 

The portal opens up again, leading to Earth once more. The sun appears to be just rising.


"Yes, I am. I thought I'd come in my swimwear to aid it." Abigail says, smiling.

 

"Was locking someone to a map used as jailing or torture method?"
I ask, while looking at the bottom of the table.

"I was actually looking for you!"
