Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I thought two minutes would be short enough you couldn't be clued in to this potentially fake breakup. I was hoping to get an uninfluenced word, but I'm not sure anymore." Xlentia says, cross.

Two sets of bars appear for you; one for you and one for Artemis. Her attention seems split evenly, though she seems to be more satisfied with Artemis than she is you.

 

"Oh lord...has he been trying to make out we're still a thing? I broke up with Aj because he forced me into a relationship I didn't want to be in. I never really loved him, but he kept pushing the relationship until I just couldn't manage it anymore. I broke up with him, he didn't break up with me." Artemis says, sounding exhausted.

"Artemis, please-" I try to say.

"Go to hell, Aj! Do you even know what it's like to have your own mother doubting the relationship you're in? Pushing you to break up, but you can't because of how forced the relationship is!? This relationship has been nothing but a long trip for me, I'm glad we've broken up! As soon as I left you, I felt a massive weight off my shoulders!" Artemis snaps at me.

"I-I'm sorry, it's just-" I attempt.

"Shut the hell up, you're making us look bad in front of Xlentia!" Artemis shouts, clearly frustrated as she leaps off of my hand and onto a flower below.

 

Xlentia seems somewhat more convinced.
"Fine. I believe you. I'll see how this works, and if I don't mind it, then you've really convinced me." She sighs.

"Are you for real broken up?" Emerald asks. "If not, Artemis is a damn good actor."

 

"If you two are getting together, then a word of advice: Don't let Aj push you around like he did me. He's horrible when he does it." Artemis says.

"That's enough, Artemis." I say, sounding a little annoyed as I open a portal for Artemis, which she steps through.

"Sorry you had to see that, my love. I'm glad you'll give me, us a chance." I say.

"I'll tell you about the wolves after I've finished speaking with Xlentia, Emerald." I respond, unsure of what exactly Xlentia can overhear.

 

"First thing I want to do is go see if Katie enjoyed her time with her mother after I dropped her off. She went inside the ship, then... next thing I remember is giving Gaia a dragon ride and going home." Xlentia says, apparently unaware what she did to Katie and Aquira.

"Telepathically, not out loud, please. Just say you want to visit the library and you can tell me." Emerald sighs.

 

"I trust you can make it there yourself? I just want to make a quick visit to the library." I ask kindly.


"Well, yeah. Anything I say out loud right now, everyone is going to hear." I respond telepathically.

 

"Yes, hon. I think I remember where Katie lives." Xlentia says.


"Alright. Make haste; she's going to come back frustrated after she's accused for something she doesn't know she did."

 

"Thank you, darling." I say happily, before leaving Xlentia's chambers and heading to the library.

 

Emerald seems to be waiting for you at the entrance.
"Okay, what happened?"

 

"Very bad things. Veeery bad things. You saw, obviously," I say, stressed, "Can I go in and like, sit down?"

 

You're teleported deep into the archives.
"Alright, come on."

 

"What do you want to know?" I ask.

 

"What happened with you and Artemis?"

 

"If you mean in terms of relationship, nothing." I say, opening a portal next to me and putting my hand through, my arm looking like I'm waving someone over.

I take my hand out of the portal a few moments before Artemis steps through.

"I wasn't too harsh on you, was I?" Artemis asks me, concerned.

"You did brilliant." I say, hugging Artemis.

 

"Well done. You had me worried. However... you'll need to find a suitable partner for Xlentia." Emerald says.

 

"Yeah, that's the tough part." I say, thinking.

"Aj told me we had to act like we'd broken up, so I just did my best. It was actually kind of hard, I don't think I ever want to break up with Aj." Artemis says happily.

"But how are we going to get Xlentia a partner? If she sees me with you, then she'll know the whole thing was fake. At the same time, I can't exactly shove her onto someone else, because I just did all I could to make it seem like I loved her." I ask, confused.

"Maybe you could arrange a few encounters with someone she's bound to fall for? Make her break up with you, not the other way around." Artemis suggests.

 

"But who? They'd have to be insanely strong."

 

"And charming enough to catch Xlentia's attention." Artemis says.

"Maybe...Maybe they just need to appeal to all aspects that Xlentia likes. We might not have to find someone that's of my sort of power, size and strength, but instead someone who's everything Xlentia likes?" I suggest.

 

"Unlikely. Xlentia likes but never loves creatures too much smaller than her."

 

"Is there any way we could make someone small, someone big?" Artemis asks.

"Not to Xlentia's size. They'd probably get ripped apart, or worse, start to fall apart as their atoms get stretched so far apart. As far as I see things, we're going to need to find someone Xlentia sized, who loves Xlentia, has all of the traits she likes, and is charming enough to pull it off." I say.

"I think we're going to need the power of the gods if we're ever going to stand a chance of finding them." Artemis says, losing hope as she puts an arm around me in a half-hug.

I sigh, "I probably shouldn't keep Xlentia waiting too long. She'll get suspicious." I say.

"Aj...just know, whatever you do, I'll still love you." Artemis says kindly, looking me in the eyes.

"My heart belongs to you, and you only, Artemis." I say kindly back, meeting Artemis' gaze. The pair of us kiss.
