Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"So who is 'This guy' anyway?" Abigail asks.

 

The random direction you choose takes you to a chasm, an abandoned kingdom there with a few skeletons laying about.

 

I fly towards the abandoned kingdom, curious about it.

 

"Damn. Where can I find some elves?" Shadow Stephanie asks.


"Doors appear to be rather resistant. Requires further investigation. Completing mission, returning home." Eve comments, before tapping her head and sighing.

 

"Did you notice the sign as we entered the portal?"

 

"Not really. I sort of just followed you." Abigail admits.

 

"Well, for the record, it said, 'The Wandering Myth'. That's our guy. Appearently, he's a draconian that just kinda walked away from the war, and was allied to."

 

"The wandering swordsman?" Abigail asks, "Katie told me a story similar to that. Apparently our friend Alice told her about it."

 

It seems to just have been a bunch of chasm dwellers - odd agricultural methods allowed steep-angle farms and rain collecting.

"I... I'm not sure. Aren't there any in your reality? They used to be rather common in ours until the Hive Master overran most of the large factions."
There's a loud explosion in the distance.
"Fuck, I need to check that out NOW." Emerald says, battle armor and lances materializing around her, hundreds of tomes flying into the Archives.


Xlentia, clearly not seeing straight, ends up firing a massive bolt of void energy at the door, though the door still doesn't budge, the shockwave shoving both Muffy and Eve backwards as well as knocking Muffy off Eve's shoulder.

 

"I think so. I'll go look." Shadow Stephanie says, disappearing.


Eve fires her hands, grappling hook like wires attached to them as they fly toward Muffy, grabbing her and pulling her back to Eve.

 

Muffy just keeps shivering, scared as Xlentia slowly tries to stand up, looking half asleep.

Emerald teleports into the room, full battle armor and three hundred tomes.
"Mistress?!" She asks, scanning the room and locking onto Eve.
"Hey, didn't you agree not to kill her?!" Emerald asks, most of her tomes going to trying to put Xlentia back to sleep.

 

"I wasn't trying to. I was just testing out the doors and she woke up." Eve says innocently.

 

Emerald nods, lances dematerializing as she dedicates her energy to putting Xlentia back to sleep, her shaking and wriggling eventually becoming stillness and calm breathing.
"Sorry about that. Ever since Katie got mad at her, her mental state has been deteriorating at an exponential rate." Emerald sighs.

 

I take down notes on this, and proceed to the nearest skeleton.

 

"Aj sent me here to aid that. I've been measuring her and her room out to fit a set of armour that should help prevent mind control," Eve says, "From what Aj told me, Xlentia's weakness after battle has left her susceptible to mind control. I believe sacrificing telepathic communication is a good trade for mind control immunity to some degree."

 

The nearest skeleton has been chewed on by the wildlife, nigh indistinguishable on how the skeleton is supposed to actually look compared to how it does look.

"She wouldn't be very open to that. However, Katie got mad at her after Aquira got stuck here and tormented Xlentia. After being caged, Virei'tus saved her and Katie's closing words to Xlentia were that "you wanted to be like my mother, you're nothing like her at all." Her resistance to the mind control went from weakening to vulnerable. If the Hive Master finds out about this, he'll hit us at the palace full-force. And we have yet to recover from your siege." Emerald explains.

 

"Aj didn't sound like he was going to be open to negotiation. He needed the measurements of the room so he could transport a machine that'd slam the armour on quickly," Eve says, "Work on the armour is already in progress."

 

"Xlentia loves talking to the gods of your world. She'd be furious if you did it, particularly if you failed to explain that it also would prevent you from controlling her."

 

"She can communicate through Aj or anyone with telepathic ability that can link to a god," Eve says, "And I don't think we were ever controlling her. She has a free will, no?"

 

"No, but if you force a set of Xlentia-proof armor on to her in the first place, she will freak and think you're trying to." Emerald says, bringing up a hologram of Xlentia's basic thought process - indeed, being forced into something is directly connected to blaming whoever she sees nearest after the act.
"Plus, you realize that armoring her is a bit risky? Only Ruby's ever tried it, and she used the same materials she did on the door..."
