Pff that big dude can't run that fast I think
*Thanks to my fast reactions I'm able to protect myself from the charge using my wings as some kind of shield*

 

The chuckle dies in Fen'ris's mouth as he sees the village.

The entire area is littered with corpses. Scar gasps behind him, holding her hands over her mouth in horror. Basil looks nauseous. Noone has been spared; not the elderly, not the women, not even children. Fire still burn on some of the houses, but most are already in ruins. Fen'ris goes up to Wyrmin, who is kneeling next to a body. It belongs to a man, who wears black and purple robes, with a mask with two dark holes at the place of the eyes and a fake mouth which is spread wide into a grotesque smile.

 

"I am called Michael, a delvolar."

 

Jeez.... that's cruel

 

The Witch's Cult is cruel.

The giant knocks into your wings. Rathius, holding his weight on the ground, manages to protect himself. Gluttony staggers, groaning.

 

Rathius(thinking): "Okay so what's your way of getting stronger?"
*I face the giant and slash his belly a few times, leaving some cuts*

 

"A delvolar?" The white haired boy blurts. "Aren't you a bit far from home?"

Mike smiles wryly. "Yeah. I'm sent from my home to interact with other species."

"Cool." The boy nods. He extends his hand. "I'm Airin, and I'm a thesia, an ice spirit. This loud one's Ilcia, a nurikabe. The other one is Cylessa, a kamaitachi."

(Google nurikabe and kamaitachi: they're cool :D)

Jenna and Kaya comes to join them. Mylith looks back at the two. "Is Luratos back yet?" He asks.

Kaya shakes her head. "No..."

"Yes." Luratos says, placing a hand on Mylith's shoulder, surprising him. He smiles, then turns serious. He adresses the whole group of people in the room as he says, "We are moving out! Our destination is the campsite!"

Gluttony shakes his head. "I Don't Get Stronger." He says, pronouncing each word abruptly. "I Eat!"

With sudden quickness, Gluttony opens his mouth and snaps it close, catching one of Rathius's claws. Rathius roars and lets a stream of fire at the giant's face. The monster roars and releases Rathius's claw.

Rathius(thinking):"I think I got an idea, I just need him to open his mouth for long enough."

 

"Heeeeelloooo! Sorry im just to excited about somethings ... Could you guys make me two small Blacksteel blocks ? " I ask , and then whisper to the girl "And could you guys infuse this in the blocks as well? " handling her the ashes of my dagger

 

"That's good," I say. "Anything can happen on the road, best have forces in case of an ambush. Are we ready to set off?"

 

I curse in an extinct language, then get up (somewhat painfully) and survey the scene... it may be best for the survivors to flee while they can.

 

I'll create a wall of fire that separates the goblins and the dwarves. "RETREAT DAMMIT!" I yell at the dwarves.

 

"What the hell do you want?" I shout out to her

 

"Looks like some kind of cult business." Fen'ris comments, "There's quite a few cults that like to wear masks and raid towns for different reasons."

Wyrmin reaches down and touches the mask. Breathing in, the elf takes the mask off the man's face.

Wyrmin drops the mask and gives a shocked cry. The body doesn't belong to a human. It is a grotesque humanoid creature with dark, bluish skin. There are lumps on the creature's face, deforming it, with eyes of different sizes, and a twisted mouth that extends all the way to its ears, which are pointed. Blue blood trickles out of the creature's mouth.

The creature suddenly opens its eyes. It starts screeching, an unearthly sound that echoes through the silent village. Its body starts convulsing, its arms and legs flailing in all directions.

Gluttony opens grabs at a nearest house and breaks parts of it with his massive hands. Gluttony throws the planks into his mouth, chewing it loudly. The soldiers, regrouping, come charging at Gluttony again. A soldier stabs Gluttony with his spear, on the monster's back.

Gluttony's eyes flash. He turns around, snatches the man off the ground, and throws him into his mouth. The man's scream is shut off as he is swallowed whole.

The girl scowls slightly. "Alright. Just blocks of blacksteel? Not a blade or anything?"

 

The Princess shakes her head. "Only a few of you would suffice." She says. "This uncertain time, when attacks are more often, we need as many soldiers that can be spared in these towns, defending."

"Yes, your highness." The leader says. He barks at a younger man, who comes riding up to him. The leader gives instructions to the young man, who nods and shouts at the group of soldiers. They ride away, back to their posts. The leader turns back. "I, Captain of Oaken Defence, and five others will form a protective formation around you. We are ready to leave anytime."

"Good." Remilia says and pulls the reins of her horse, spurring forward. The group starts onward, as they pass through the gate towards the north-west. Inside the woods, they follow the road in a single file, and they ride relatively slow. For an hour and a bit, Asakeryu sits on top of the carriage's roof with his feet dangling down. Max flies ahead, circling in the air.

Asakeryu sees the trees clearing up ahead. "We're coming out of the woods!" He shouts.

The group exits the woods. As they start speeding up, Asakeryu sees dark shapes coming out from the trees. Max cries in alarm in the air. "Enemies!" She shouts.

There are over three dozen figures, all wearing uniforms of the Witch's Cult. They ride on creatures that resemble black horses, which have thicker and shorter necks, and a pair of long, winding horns. These creatures are faster than the horses the Rehniarians ride, thus they are closing in the distance.
