Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"And how do we know this ain't a trick?" The voice shouts.

 

"Do you know any mortal city-sized dragons?" Xlentia asks bluntly. "I am the Deity of Decay, counterpart of Lady Tenebrae. Besides, if you blast her brains out I'll just kill you, erase all memories and traces of you ever existing, children included, and then just have my servants revive Katie."
She looks at Katie nervously.
"Hon, it'll be okay. I promise. You and your parents will be fine." She reassures.

 

"I-I just want to see mum..." Katie says fearfully.

"Alright, you let me pass with the girl, she gets to see her "parents"!" The voice shouts.

 

Xlentia quickly and precisely drops her claw, damaging the barrel of the gun so it can't shoot. However, the deck is unscathed.
"Mortals don't haggle with a goddess they just pissed off. Let her see her parents and I leave you alone."

 

The owner of the voice throws the gun away, stepping out onto the ship toward Katie with their cutlass drawn, putting it next to Katie's neck.

The owner of the voice seems to be a rough looking fire guardian, dressed in somewhat scruffy clothes, small patches of ash over them. He glares at Xlentia as he walks Katie across the ship, keeping his cutlass on her neck at all times.

 

Xlentia keeps glaring back at him, tendrils flowing into the clouds.
"I'm just thinking out loud here, but I could've just warped your captain and Katie away and skipped this whole ordeal." She sighs.

 

"And I can turn water into rum." The fire guardian says, keeping his cutlass on Katie.

The fire guardian makes his way to the other end of the ship, knocking on the door at the end of it.

"Captain, this dragon says she has your daughter, and wants you to see her. I think it's a trap." The fire guardian says.

The door opens just wide enough to fit Katie, before a hand grabs Katie's arm and pulls her inside. A silver flintlock pistol is aimed through the door before it closes fully, firing a bullet at the centre of Xlentia's head before the door slams shut.

 

It bounces off like a rubber ball, landing with a loud thunk as it hits the deck.
Xlentia just seems confused with what hit her.
"Awh, a cannon that shoots toys? I want one!" She complains, picking up the bullet without even scratching the deck.

 

The ship seems rather quiet, though Xlentia can just about hear voices in the captain's quarters. The fire guardian keeps an eye on Xlentia, cutlass held ready.

 

Xlentia focuses on the voices in the captain's quarters, otherwise waiting.
"So... how do you make those toy launchers?" She asks the fire guardian, rather oblivious.

 

"I thought I was g-going to die, mum!" Katie says.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. Surely you can understand why the crew would be so tense when you rode in on a giant dragon like that?" A voice says.

"I-I know...I've missed you." Katie says sadly.

"I've missed you too, pumpkin." The voice says.

 

Xlentia seems to relax upon hearing this.
"Hon, just let me know if and when you want to go back. And don't do that by dying like Crystal did." She says, loud enough for Katie to hear as she sinks deeper in the water, lying in wait.

 

After a while, a tall, strong, well dressed pirate captain steps out of the captain's quarters, her leather boots marking her presence with sound. A golden cutlass and silver flintlock pistol lie at her waist, long, dark blue hair extending from under her hat and past her shoulders.

"How did you find this ship, and what business do you have with my daughter?" The captain asks, serious.

 

"I asked Gaia your whereabouts so your nightmare-struck daughter could have something else nice to think of. As for your daughter, she's part of a group that was bold enough to storm my palace. I owe her my life for freeing me from the bastard who had me and other gods mind controlled in our own reality."

 

"Proof?" The captain asks, serious.

 

"Would calling Gaia here be enough, or would you like to see my palace?" Xlentia asks, ignorant of her demeanor.

 

"What?"
"She means that dictionaries have many definitions for one word."
"But those could work. Xelentia keeps calling the Hive Master 'Hive Bastard' and neither of us know what it means."

 

Emerald laughs.
"That's her slang name for him. And I meant that dictionaries have a lot more than one word worth of definitions."

 

"You talk big, but I honestly think you're lying if you can't bring proof to show me. How do I know you haven't kidnapped my daughter, hm? Used her to locate my ship, and use me and my crew for your own wishes? Where is your proof of any of your claims, 'goddess'? My daughter probably suffered the nightmares you claim she's had because of you. I suggest you leave, now, if you can't show me valid proof. Or, we open fire." The captain says seriously, heavy doubt in her tone.

 

Xlentia snickers.
"Okay, here's my proof."
A massive portal opens, thousands of regiments of draconian soldiers landing and readying themselves on her wings.
"My servants. Most of them. Like, maybe a tenth. Wait, that's not most..." Xlentia says, distracted.
